Why is there a ball for basketball used in this scene? This has a deeper meaning to it....

It's just a ball, it's not specifically a basketball just because of it's design, there's no deeper meaning to it... probably...

Yes, there is a deeper meaning honestly. But not too much info except some minor spoilers from future arcs.

It has been told in the LN that other people have been isekaid to the Re Zero world so that item must’ve come from one of them

it’s probably just there so Emilia can have something to play with to pass the time, so unless my boy Sora is gonna come and break her ankles, I don’t think there’s any deeper meaning behind it

Based on additional details from the LN and WN, I think:

Many years ago, Hoshin (Anastasia's ancestor) was isekai-d. He brought in culture from Subaru's world to their world and made a fortune by selling these ideas there.

If you notice carefully, you'll find burgers sold at Inns (Season 1 Episode 16). Remarkable because one wouldn't ordinarily expect fast food to be available in a medieval country like Lugunica.

Likewise, the LN chapter this episode adapted mentioned that many of the books Emilia read as a child had references and mentions of lore from Subaru's world. That is how young Emilia picked up the word 'fairy', even though in their world, the terminology used is 'lesser spirits'.

now that you mentioned that might actually be a basketball, remember flugel was isekaid 400 years ago but he still knew about Google so maybe some of the isekai characters may have carried a basketball with them at the time of summoning just like Subaru

Someone bringing the idea of basketball from another world is not possible, Subaru was issekaied in 2012 and I was told Emilia is 115 years old and people are saying that basketball guy came mutch before Emilia was born. So the basketball guy came mutch before 1897 but basketball was made in 1891 ,he could not have known the concept of a basketball . Is that a plot-hole?

Definitely not a plothole. Probably means absolutely nothing (could just be a random ball made from leather).

But it were to mean anything:

Time in ReZero world and time in Subaru's world may not be synchronized.

400 years in one place could be like 5-10 years in the other.
