When talking about visual media, have you ever heard the expression "Show, don't tell." ? Bakemonogatari has no idea what that means. In that show, everything is explained like the viewer is some kind of an idiot. Every little thought, action, motive is explained in words. In details. Dialogues or monologues that take like 5 minutes without a scene change explaining the most mundane shit. Or explaining for 5 minutes what happened 5 minutes earlier. I couldn't take it anymore after 8 episodes. Although the characters were great, the style was great and it was funny and entertaining at times. So if you dont mind reading, reading and then some more reading about mostly nothing then you'll probably like the show. |
