Does anyone feel "split" in their personality or desires?

Like, does anyone feel like they have two different, opposing personality types?

For me, I have a desire to see things fall to ruin (sort of like a mentally ecstatic desire to destroy), but also a strong moral conviction and appreciation for justice and righteousness. Obviously they don't mix well, and I can only really feel one at a time.

Of course, my morality has a strong hold on what I actually do, although I still particularly enjoy things like horror/psychological anime, etc.

Does anyone else feel like this?

Not sure if this counts as a personality type, but I enjoy dark violent gory stuff and I also enjoy bright colourful happy stuff.

Yes.
But i know i don't have split personality disorder because then there would be chunks of time missing from the day. When you have splits your consciousness shifts between the personalities while the main "you" goes to sleep.

Right, but when it comes to something (say, a town or community) in which you have influence over; would you prefer to make it a dark, violent, gorey place, or a bright, colourful, happy place? Not completely, but marginally, if there were situations in which your actions would tip it in either one direction or the other.

LOL I think you're watching too much anime. Unless DID (dissociative identity blah blah blah) actually works like that?

Lol not watching too much anime. Do you know anything about split personality disorder? ( that was a stupid question you clearly don't) nevermind xD
Yes, that's how it works. but there are other personality disorders that function differently.

oh I would make it a nightmarish dystopia where I sit upon my ivory tower oppressing the lower classes while concubines feed me grapes.

Next to nothing of what I read in high school psychology class, waay back... I mean, Wikipedia's there, but I don't really feel interested.

Yes, I think that is the human nature. I do also have a destrutive side that just want to see the world burn sometimes, and one that is more constructive. I think that is pretty common.
Fiction may be used so that people can somehow live out their more destructive needs.

Even historically, I think you can see this. People build up, destroy, build up, destroy, and it goes on and on and on. We would get bored otherwise. The biggest threat to a human is herself. Wise people have known this for millenias, and therefore they know the importance of self-reflection, honesty and self-control.

Yea I know what you mean. I don't feel love very well. I wish I could love the people who love me, but I don't. I have to make a conscious effort to treat them as well as I think I should. It's a rather draining task.

I feel fairly feminine but on the outside I don't really show it. I'm more open about it now, but I used to keep my "true self" completely separate from what other people saw.

But then I also want to live in isolation in my comfy room

Sometimes I wanna go out and get a bangin job that makes millions
But then I also want to live in isolation in my comfy room

Sometimes I want to be an Olympic athlete
But then I also want to live in isolation in my comfy room

Not personality, but yes in desires.

I guess the sort of innocence/corruption thing gets to me. I like to corrupt things but since i don't have many morals, things tend to not feel corrupted to me. i like it when a person accidentally does something bad or naughty but that can only be done while innocent.

i like some yandere stuff but not other aspects. With crazy u don't get to pick and choose though.

I also can't decide between which i like more, private cuddling time or secret exhibitionism time out in the open.

I think alot of this is just from liking too many things.

I have two of those dualities. First of all I can both be the most idealistic guy out there but also the most cynical, but the cynical part can mostly be transferred to the type of stories I tend to like. Even then I can preach for the ideal while just a minute later saying such an ideal is foolish, and meaning both at the moment I say it.

Secondly I am one of those guys with a big feminine side, even having the urge to crossdress every now and then. I keep that side to myself because people in my direct environment would make fun of me or downright become mad about it because they think gender roles are very important. In my view I shouldn't because everyone has some traits from the opposite gender but I'd rather keep things peaceful while I'm still living with my parents.

The closest thing that I can relate to what you're explaining has to do with my really bad anxiety.. I find myself questioning who I am a lot and I can get into a pretty weird headspace where I act colder or unaware of what's going on around me, or I just act really strangely and cry a lot. This only lasts for like a few hours though because it usually happens during or after an anxiety attack.

For basic personality I think everyone has differing "personas" because we are very complex people that can change depending on our surroundings and emotions in that moment, though the base of our personality and our morals normally doesn't change unless it's over time.

Oh! I also do change how I want to present myself a lot. I jump back and forth from wanting to be girly and wanting to dress more like a guy, but I've never seen it as a "split" type of thing and more like a fun thing.
