| Ok, I know.....another loli thread, but just bear with me for a little. I'm not here to discuss whether you're a lolicon or if you think lolicons are pedos or anything like that. I'm here to discuss the fact that loli is a very misused term for many characters. Basically everyone has their own definition nowadays and that causes too much confusion. This IMHO is not a loli....it's a petite bishoujo.....despite her somewhat childish demeanor she doesn't apply to all of the characteristics of being a "loli", the most obvious one being that she's not a small child, she' just short... However, this is a loli. She's a small child and has all the characteristics of a "loli". Ok, enough about me, what about you guys is there a way to distinguish between a loli and a Petite character? And if so....what do you think are the requirements? |

The only thing I can really think of is that a petite body is plausible in reality whereas a loli seems to be an unnatural construct that's restricted to anime. But the main problem is I really have no idea how to define features of a loli since it all boils down to individual speculation and interpretation. And to be fair, it's mostly due to the fact that some people view loli as a art style (like the art style from Ro Kyu bu or lucky star)... And others (like me) view lolis as a characteristic that MUST qualify in order to be deemed to be "loli". In other words....this is....believe it or not, one of the biggest debates in the anime community. Lol....I know....it's hilariously sad. |

| My friend got offended when I called the Upotte girls lolis. I don't know, you decide- I compromised with him at psuedo loli. To me they look like lolis. I know there's really no exact science to this shit, so I've always considered any character that looked 14 or under a loli. I recognize there are different stages of loli. Loli, no doubt they are lolis. Pseudo loli, character designs that walk the line. Gets confusing because they have the body of a 14 year old but are sometimes... curvy... Jailbait, look 16-17. From here on it's safe(r). Adult, look 18+ I guess with that being said I go by the body type. Anyways, going to burn my computer now. |

| Actually when I look at my 4 basic anime girl types, there's an easier way to remember them by... Large, Medium, Small, extra small.... Stick to the "regular" sizes and you're fine. |

| Judging by body type is difficult. I've seen some flat chested/short Asian chicks that look like lolis in their 20s. I think their faces are the only determinant; can't really explain in words but yea you can tell from facial structure. |
