How is the Shoujo Ai in Simoun?

Is the Shoujo Ai in Simoun all subtext or is it more like Strawberry Panic, in that the romance is actually out there and you don't have to read between the lines. I really don't want to watch 8 episodes to realize that the romance will never blossom.

Going by my blatant guessing, I'll just go with what the top review said and say really obvious romance. I mean, it has the tag romance, and it seems like there's a lot going on in this anime.

Hopefully someone has an informed answer though!

Actually, why isn't this anime better known? It sounds pretty good!
