After watching dubbed anime for some time now, I have finally decided to try out manga. My problem is that I need a recommendation because I have no clue what to read first. I am looking to read something funny.

And how would I read it? I heard from a friend that it is from right to left (this friend also told me that Korean manga is an exception to this, but my question is not including Korean manga), so would I just read the first line of comic (not sure what it is called) from right to left and go down or would I start from the right bottom and go up?

You may go for Negima. Easy to read.

I second this motion. Do NOT be fooled by the synopsis! There's much more under surface than what you might think.

Just this once, I'll fulfill whatever your wish is.

I heard that deathnote or onepiece are a lot of people's gateway manga... Onepiece has a lot of comedic moments in it even though it'd take you a while to read.

If you're looking for something light to start with you might wanna try one punch man, it requires 0 use of your brain and its not that funny but it's nice.

Ehhh, this is quite obscure. I'll pitch in.

I'm also filled with pure-hearted ulterior motives.

Seconding Negima.
Kickstarter for Rokujouma is fully funded. Good work everyone. Lets wait for the result of our hard work together.
