i don't know why there was no more episode ; this series was good...besides it stopped right at an interesting point...

I would assume the sales sucked so hard they cancelled all further plans (assuming there were any)

Stop the sequels high-ranking stupidity.
Group franchises in Top Anime page.
Because Gintama is just "one" anime and not 5.
