It'd be great if it had both. I don't want a full-comedy series as I'd want some more progress of the story. |

If there is to be a next season then it would be based on at least the next 2 novels (Dancing Very Merry Christmas & Continuing On My Own), which almost have no comedy whatsoever. They develop the story nicely and are completely action-oriented, only bits of comedy in DVMC. Here are my reviews that give you an idea of what to expect: A Dancing Very Merry Christmas Full Metal Panic! A Dancing Very Merry Christmas is a Sci-fi, Action, Romance, Comedy, Drama light novel that focuses on a controversial mission that Mithril’s TDD-1 crew decided to undertake. Two months after the events of ‘The End of Day by Day’; the story continues with the 2nd year students of Jindai High, planning to go on an overnight Christmas Cruise. There’s always the worry that it may turn into another hijacking like before, but the beginning mostly focuses on Sousuke & Kaname’s rocky relationship and the affect Tessa has made. Sure this non-progressing romance is fairly tiresome however the story becomes more engaging, when TDD-1’s mission involves the overnight cruise. The way the mission was carried out felt like the TV series ‘24’. It had an interesting way of dealing with several events, occurring at the same time, with the author assorting events in a way that the reader wouldn’t get lost. We have pretty much all the old FMP! characters, plus some new ones and the excellent dialogue used, during their conversations with each other, is one thing to look forward to in this novel. Even though the main characters like the Kaname & Sousuke duo are pretty much the same as always, a lot of the characters seem to have undergone slight change in their mannerism. The most noticeable change is Sousuke who is more casual, especially around Tessa. In this light novel, the artwork is pretty much the same as always. Usually once per chapter a detailed picture is used to portray some important situations and even though they look really good the character designs do seem a bit off, at times. Overall Dancing Very Merry Christmas is a great set-up story for the later novels, as it manages to showcase most of the important characters. The story itself was very unimaginative but the way it was executed was certainly FMP-like, with plenty of humorous exchanges between the characters. This novel is complete with an equal amount of action, comedy and tension, which is the perfect formula for any FMP! fan. ^_^ Continuing On My Own Full Metal Panic! Continuing on My Own is a Sci-fi, Action, Romance, Drama light novel about the biggest threat to Mithril and to Sousuke & Kaname’s relationship. The story takes place sometime after the Pacific Christmas incident, when things are slowly returning back to normal for the students of Jindai High; yet the incident has left a big impression on Amalgam. Now Amalgam has become serious and takes decisive action on both Mithril and Kaname, which could bring and end to Mithril and jeopardise the relationship that Sousuke & Kaname took so long to forge. Following the initial chapter, the reader can expect a lot to happen, as an all out attack by Amalgam ensues. Expect bombings, high speed car chases, hostage situations, epic AS battles and shocking developments. With these shocking developments, a lot of the characters change and development with the moment. Sousuke expresses the feelings he has kept bottled up, Kaname realizes her fate and Tessa is no longer the meek Captain, as they all adjust accordingly to the situation. This time round we also get characters that have played minor roles so far, making such a huge impact on the story, such as: Leonard, Hayashimizu and Kyouko. This being a light novel, there isn’t much to say about the artwork. Though this time round the pictures isn’t as detailed as usual, but they’re still useful in portraying some important situations. Overall Continuing on My Own is probably the best installment of the FMP series so far,, which completely abandons the light-hearted comedy and solely focuses on the serious drama and intense action. If this novel were to be animated by KyoAni then it would certainly be an instant hit. This novel has personally left the biggest impact on me, as it ended with such a depressing cliff-hanger. ^_^ |

I loved the darkness in TSR! As far as I'm concerned, the next seasons will be a Dancing Very Merry Christmas and Continuing On My Own, like Master_M2K said. I can hardly wait. :) |

If KyoAni (or another studio) will make continuation of the story, it will be more Serious then first, and second season, I have read the novels( i'm waiting for the last one) and I can say that the storyline is more dark but there is still much funny things. Action after TSR is the most interesting for me. The novels after TSR are: 1. DVMC - Dancing Very Merry Christmas 2. COMO - Continuing ON MY OWN 3. TMMD - Tsudoku Make My Day 4. BOMF - Burning One Man force 5. NOT - Nick Of Time |

I vote for a mix of serious and comedy. That's what makes FMP so good. |

Well actually after DVMC (Dancing Very Merry Christmas), the story gets notably darker with heaps of action & drama. Sure there's still some comedy but even that's dark; like Sousuke being interrogated in BOMF and Tessa swearing in CMMD. ^_^ |

Well actually the story becomes very sad so comedy is less likely, I almost started crying when I read the story...Damn Amalgam! |

Actually something hilarious did happen in Approaching the Nick Of Time. Kurz and Sousuke was talking about SEX and Tessa overheard them and... well here's what they said. Tessa stood still, frozen with her eyes round. Kurz and Sousuke were also stiff. Looks like she borrowed the shower onboard. The loose field uniform as a bath towel hanging in her head. "Ah....well...." Kurz's eyes were swimming in the air, finding words. As expected Sousuke who finally understood the meaning, was in confusion at the appearance of Tessa, not saying anything with cold sweat pouring out. "A, um... I seem to be interrupting." Tessa was embarrassed and turned around. "No, your mistaken, Tessa" "That's right, Captain. We were talking about how many pounds of explosives it would require to sink this ship----" "You shut up" "in other words we're talking about Semtex. Plastic Explosives." "That's right, Semtex, Semtex....that's what you heard right!" |

Well I`ve read all the novels and its pretty sad :| For example when Kaname is taken by Leonard(that piece of shit), because she wanted to save Sousuke and Tokyo and another sad part is when Kurama kills Nami! |

I must agree that was the most unexpected thing that has happened in the whole of Full Metal Panic. Nami had the potential to be such an important character, about as much as Tessa and I almost shed a tear when she met such a cruel end. The whole Nami X Sousuke dynamic felt a lot more natural than Tessa X Sousuke and I really wanted them to get serious. |

She was waiting for him to save her, while he was playing around with Nami... He should definitely choose Kaname, with out thinking abaut it! Thats whay I'm happy that Nami died... |

Sousuke went to hell and back during and after Continuing on My Own, so I wouldn't blame him for finding some comfort in Nami, since she did have a similar brash personality to Kaname's. Also it's not Nami's fault that she fell in love with Sousuke, as he was such a badass. I'm not even saying that the two should have gone out because I'm a Kaname supporter, I'm just saying that Nami could have been an incredibly important character to the plot since she's a Whispered with an undiscovered Black Technology trait. |
