| I like Gakuen Alice most, but actually the manga more than the anime. I've just read it for the third time, all 180 chapters. I like Gakuen Alice most because it has a very nice story line, the author wrote at the beginning already that Mikan was treated differently, and you only know the reason why somewhere in chapter 45 or 95 (I can't remember) a little bit, being Azumi Yuka's daughter, but you only know what's with Azumi Yuka when the go back in time in chapter 150 or so. The romance between Mikan and Natsume is very nice, because it isn't just lovey-dovey stuff. It's also nice with the love triangle with Natsume, Ruka and Mikan, with Natsume and Ruka being best friend and willing to give each other happiness, also in romance. Natsume and Mikan being a fated pair, because of their mothers being best friends and them facing many hardships together. The story has at the beginning mostly different events with 1-3 chapters max, but once you go further it gets more as one event with Mikan's mother and the ESP (Elementary school Principal). While reading the manga for the first time, I didn't want to stop reading from chapter 120 or so, because I really wanted to know what was going to happen, so I read it quite fast, but I also read it good because everything that was written and drawn I liked and wanted to read. At the end chapters, with Mikan's mother and the ESP as I said, I cried much, when I normally never cry for myself, and I felt real hate for the people bringing much misfortune for Mikan, and Gakuen Alice was one of the few manga where I cried for felt hate. Gakuen Alice also has many little hilarious things in it, where I laugh out loud for (what I also do not do much in real life). I also really like the characters, mostly Mikan, Hotaru and Natsume. I like Mikan's personality, her cheerfulness, her clumsiness, her not being serious many times, but when it gets real serious, she does act serious, and doesn't laugh it off, because that would be very annoying. I like that she isn't too powerful, and not very smart, because that fits Mikan's character. I like Hotaru because her inventions are funny and nice, and she seems cold first but is actually very caring, mostly about Mikan. She is very jejune (I'm sorry, I don't know if this is the right word because I'm actually Dutch and only 13 years old so I don't know the right English word for it, at Google Translate this was the best for what I meant, so yes.), and because she is, the things she says and does are really funny (my sense of humor). I like Natsume because he also is very cold at the outside but really cares for people and never abandon the ones he cares for. I also like his teasing personality, and his ability of loving someone (Mikan) really deep. I noticed one thing about Gakuen Alice, a mistake. Somewhere at the beginning with the singer with voice pheromone, also a member of Z, Reo, he seems to also be a friend from Narumi-sensei and Yuka (Mikan's mother), but later in the story, when they go time travelling, Reo isn't anywhere in the past there. That was the only one mistake I saw (don't count the grammar mistakes in English). Only a pity that it doesn't go further than chapter 180, cause I wanted to read further when they go find Hotaru, and if Hotaru becomes a couple (with Ruka?) and how Natsume and Mikan end up. So yes I really like Gakuen Alice, plus making such a review ^^. |
