| Which ones are really bad? Alot of ppl are telling me that Hadena, Subdesu are bad but I want to know more. Trying to avoid the ones that don't translate well. I know Commie, UTW, gg, rori/pomf are good. HorribleSubs are nice but I've heard they are just Crunchyroll rips. |

| I would simply check anidb and/or MAL for fansub groups for each anime you watch. For example, like seishi-sama said, gg might be excellent for a few series, but might suck on others. ji-hi is pretty useful too if you're still waffling between groups after anidb / MAL's fansub recommendations. | Just pick the subgroup that has the highest rating on the anime's MAL page. Sometimes you don't have the luxury of picking the 'good' fansub. |

| UTW, coalgirls, mazui, doki (sometimes), EveTaku, GotWoot/GotSpeed, Eclipse, SS, Chihiro, rori, bitchsubs, wasurenai, kite-seekers, Licca and horriblesubs are good subbing groups (well, HS are a rip group from crunchyroll but the subs are still good). Chihiro used to be utter shit but they're doing well now. gg, Commie and subdesu are... really not good. Commie subs quickly but their translations are far too localised; they like to forget that the entire population of the internet isn't American. Rizlim, Zakuro, ReDone and Kira-fansubs are good for BD re-encodes and stuff. |

| Speedsubs are in general bad, like hadena, subdesu, gotspeed etc. but there are exeptions like horriblesubs. I guess Underwater, Zurako and WhyNot also are quite good. You should check out whiners.pro and ji-hi.net . Bakabt is also a good place to ckeck, because there they only accept the best releases. |
| From personal experience (simply my opinion), I'd put these groups into 4 categories: Consistently Great UTW, EveTaku Usually Good Commie (localization is a bit much though), HorribleSubs (CR rips, mostly good), WhyNot, FFF Inconsistent (can be good, but not always) Hadena, Mazui, Doki Last Resort (no other choice) gg, SubDESU I haven't seen enough of the others to form opinions of them. |
