| Quick note- This is NOT just "Strong female lead'. This is more specific than that. So my favorite female archetype is the 'girl who protects other girls'. This comes in all forms- Some are goofy, some are serious, some are tsudere, some are motherly.. etc. But the main thing is, they protect girls and in some cases guys as well- but mostly girls. Swords and/or magic powers are a huge plus but not at all a necessity. I'm looking for any anime or manga that has this archetype as the MAIN CHARACTER, or maybe the secondary main character. I don't want a series that has a character like this who's a side character. The best examples I can give you are: Utena Tenjou (Revolutionary Girl Utena) Sora Himoto (Shitsurakuen) Misaki (Kaichou wa Maid-sama) Please note that it does NOT have to be a yuri/shoujo ai series. It can be, of course, I love yuri and shoujo ai, but there are some hetero series with this. One I'm watching now is Kaichou wa Maid-sama. Misaki is the perfect example of this archetype, but she's not from a shoujo-ai/yuri. Of course the more likely options are probably going to end up being at least implied shoujo-ai or yuri. =D The girl can also just be incredibly protective of one female in particular, but this should be a big part of the series. (Canaan and Burst Angel, for example.) Make sure you look through my list first because, since this has always been one of my favorite archetypes and one that I even try to aspire to myself (despite being straight- I'm a bit of an oddball) so I've seen a LOT of series with this. Manga, though, I have not read a ton of with this, but don't just suggest the manga versions of anime I have seen unless you think they are particularly good. THANKS IN ADVANCE ALL!! |
| Bamboo Blade might work, its an ensemble cast, but Tama-chan is featured more than most, considers herself to be an ally of justice and will happily defend anyone in danger. |
| Reading the title I immediately thought of Shitsurakuen and came to recommend it. Now, seeing how you already read it, I'm sad that I can't help :( Okay, I guess this was a part of Venus vs. Virus. But I hated this show so much that I'd feel bad recommending it to other people... (talking about the anime, can't say anything about the manga. I think you might actually like it) |
