Previously, Obama has been talking about how other countries shouldn't censor their citizen's Internet connections because it is so vital to the democratic processes. But now, the congress wants to control our own citizen's access in a bill that would require domain registrars, Internet service providers, and others to block sites the Attorney General puts on his list. Of course, they disguise this bill as a push to deter copyright infringement and claim all the sites on the list will be just that - "Sites that contribute to copyright infringement" We all know the real motive here... (Oh, and by the way, this is copyrighted I never was a writer.) xD

So, what is PIPA, SOPA and, ACTA. Take a look these video and links....

Protect IP

SOPA

Okay, that's not the video to inform you. But that's how I feel about it sometimes. xD
Here's the video...

ACTA

Of course, this thread is not just about PIPA,SOPA and, ACTA. This thread is for any news, about any county, and about any government.

Feel free to add links or video's you want.

that greek police thing is very interesting, of course, like the article says it's largely symbolic, it obviously speaks to the larger problem at hand.

i must disagree though with the missouri watchdog article though, or at least the part that talks about "the food served in school has no impact on childhood obesity"...then when you click the link about the study, it is so nebulous, there's no hard data presented and it seems rather agenda driven. it quotes "“Food preferences are established early in life." as one of their findings. sooo...chicken nuggets and pizza and chips and soda being served to kindergarteners isn't establishing food preferences at an early age? obviously there's a lot going on at home that contributes as well (and probably more so, as there's only so much schools can do)...but from personal experience in school (full disclosure, i graduated high school in 2000, a while back admittedly) our (public school) lunch choices consisted of pizza (daily), cheeseburgers (daily), a rotation of meatloaf, BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken fingers, mac and cheese, and various similar fast food type entrees. also available daily were french fries and tater tots. also as side items were various ice cream items, candy bars, and any soda you can imagine. the "healthy" choices were PB and J daily, and a fruit cup and milk. hmmm what is a teenager gonna pick given the choice? not to mention gym class (in higher grades) and recess are dying off too. so you have developing and impressionable kids of all ages growing up with the example schools are setting of putting a bunch of shit in your body and having no activity.

sorry ranted there...very opinionated about this :P

By the time you're in high school you already have food preferences. Its the elementary that's the most important and ones parents.

I had luck in elementary that we had a cook and always ate "home made?" food, well almost always from time to time he would get drunk and then we wouldn't have nothing to eat ^^
In high school I did only eat junk food but it didn't really impact me. Right now I only eat junk food once or twice in a month. It's not that I avoid it I just don't have any preference in what I eat so I rather eat at home than go for burger or what not.

The sad thing is that even in my elementary they started giving junk food to kids and as Bill said I think its a pretty big problem.

I remember when Jamie Oliver went to a US school that was said to have the most problems with kids food. The kids were literally eating rubbish and still since many interests were at stake, those responsible for this didn't want the change to happen.
Oliver was treated so badly, I can't even watch this documentary again without feeling enraged. They were the ones to call him for help and the only thing they did was to ridicule him.

Anyway, I'm glad that I saw this letter from the Greek police force. It was a very noble thing to do from their side. Hope it stays that way.

The only food I remember at school were pizza and cheeseburgers. If I were to eat what my kids eat, I would be the Goodyear blimp. There young, they burn off most what they eat. Most parents complain that kids sit on the computer or console all day and play video game. Man, that the life. But they can do that, and should be doing that, there F***ing kids, right? Life's too short, you grow up fast, and then you learn how to eat.

Glad you guys are enjoying the news articles. I felt bad the other day when I was sick. I couldn't 't even go on my laptop.

About the food talk we had before...In my school we were eating freshly baked cheese, spinach and onion pies, many cold sandwiches to choose from, with eggs, ham and vegetables, fresh orange juice from orange trees we had at school. And when we were younger, in elementary school we were eating at the restaurant there, where we had special meals each day planned by a dietitian. Those meals always consisted of the main dish, salad, bread and a fruit or sweet. There were always the more "junk" options, but there were all baked and made by our schools cook, even the pizza.

I have to keep up with the news!! You're really doing a great work here!

idk if anyone noticed but maybe the best print reporter of our generation died this week.
Anthony Shadid

if anyone had the privilege of reading the Washington Post from 2003-2009, his reporting on the war in Iraq was...transcendent. he took you out of the press conferences of Generals and put you into the homes of regular people with all of their naked fears and humanity. it's so easy to just think of them as "the other side" but he reminded you they weren't, they were just like you, just pressed into this extraordinarily difficult situation. anyways, just thought he was worth mentioning. i'll miss his wonderful writing talent. as close to a poet as you'll find in a newspaper.

The other one was a communist and other was the richest man in Russia... well maybe Putin was in the end the best choice. Our media reported a lot about Russia's election last weekend, there were even a non-stop news feed about the election on HS.fi ( = Helsingin Sanomat - the biggest newspaper in Finland)

Epic pictures about Putin, the last one is somehow cute xD

Eric (guy in article), this beer is for you.

I hate people and their fucking cell phones and obsession with their need for blather on anywhere they bloody well feel like. And most of the conversations are worthless wastages of good air.
While not technically anime, currently I am a big fan of Hatsune Miku.

We call Amur tiger as Siberian tiger btw :D

I bet there will be no changes in relations between Russia and Finland, Putin thinks Finland is a good friend and our new president Niinistö has already congratulated Putin about his "new" position.

Lol. I have a cousin in the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police), and he's mentioned cases like this man to me.

Regarding Obama, I would take pretty much anyone over a republican, so that's a no-brainer. I just hope enough of the American people think likewise.

I'm of the opinion that it doesn't matter who gets elected anymore. You need some new political parties to shake things up.
