Symbolism in Anime Openings (and Endings)

Now, here's my Interpretation: I believe that the main theme behind this Opening is "Laughing in the Face of Death". I base this on the fact that most of the characters shown in the Opening Sequence are in a situation where their life is in immediate Danger. And what are these characters doing? They are laughing. Why is that, one would ask. I believe that the concept of Laughing in the face of Death is very powerful, as for me, it triggers indescribable feelings. There is a constant fear of death in each of us, and almost no one wants to die, but seeing someone laugh as they meet their certain demise, it makes you wonder what they are thinking. To laugh in a situation where others would break down and cry, that is powerful indeed, as it shows that in a sense, you have conquered death, as it does not scare you anymore, and you have come to terms with the inevitable.
