More Accurate Translation or Most Accurate Translation?

Just wanted to throw a query out there to the Japanese linguophiles out there:

The first two characters of this series' title reads 超昂 chōkō, which are also the same two characters in the Japanese name of Beat Angel Escalayer.

Like most American otaku, my Japanese is very bad, but I can't help but wonder if 'beat' is the most accurate translation of chōkō? It seems a little awkward the way it's used in the case of both these anime.

"Super" would probably be the most accurate translation. Then again, for Escalayer, the original game used ateji, so despite the kanji, the official pronunciation was "Biito Enjeru Esukareiyaa" (Beat Angel Escalayer). On the other hand, Haruka didn't use ateji like that, but they probably used "Beat" so as to be consistent with the usage of 超昂 in both titles.

EDIT: terminology note: "ateji" is the practice of assigning new readings to kanji. One of many examples is the Index franchise, where despite the respective terms being written out in kanji, words in the titles were assigned the official pronunciations "Indekusu" and "Reerugan".
