Family: Devi
Type: Devi
Habitat: Everywhere humans can live
Disposition: Domineering, arrogant, sadistic, show-offish
Diet: Omnivorous; pain and suffering
Rarity: Exceptionally Rare
The dakini are a powerful but rare and infamous member of the devi family. They are easily recognizable by their striking red or obsidian-colored skin. Because they are a long-lived species with average lifespans of around 4,000 to 5,000 years dakini under 250 years of age are not considered to be fully fledged adults. As a subspecies the dakini share many physical similarities with their devyah kin but are superior in almost every regard; they are stronger, larger, and are capable casters. Dakini tend to specialize in aggressive, offensive magic schools like electromancy, telekinesis, or pyromancy. For all the species of devi there seems to be no correlation between the species of the mother and her offspring other than statistics, and the dakini are no exception to this. The dakini are the rarest of the devi species with only a one in twenty-five chance that a daughter will be born a dakini.
Like the devyah dakini have thick smooth tails, hooves, digitigrade legs, subtle tendrils sprouting from behind their ears, glowing eyes, blue blood, and large breasts. They match a minotaur’s strength, have excellent endurance, are tough, and have minor regenerative abilities. They have an innate resistance to both heat and cold and are less affected by hostile magic than most other mamono, though they are far from immune to magic. Of all the devi species the dakini are the least affected by the inefficiencies in their bodies, with only the lack of muscles in their lower legs being notable. Therefore, just like the devyah, dakini tend to be thicc. Dakini are also the only devi subspecies that can be futanari, but being a futanari is rather common with almost a quarter of all dakini being one. Those futas can sire children with all devi species. Physically speaking they are also the most varied of the devi species -- some common examples are wings, an extra set of horns, a long forked tongue, a tail spade, tail spikes, osteoderm armor plates, penile barbs, finger claws, or an extra set of arms. Most dakini have at least one of these “additions.” Their eyes also show more variation and can be almost any color except for gold or silver, which are exclusive to the rankini subspecies.
Being generally arrogant, dakini often view themselves as superior to the other devi races. Since their daughters only have a slim chance of being born dakini they often do not concern themselves with becoming mothers; rather they prefer to leave pregnancy and giving birth up to the other devi species. This does not mean they rarely become mothers themselves, for they do like to get laid for hedonistic reasons. It is not uncommon for a dakini to adopt or even abduct a dakini baby from other devi mothers to raise as their own while abandoning their own non-dakini children and leave them to the devi to feed and raise.
Dakini often have arrogant, ambitious, domineering, aggressive personalities. They crave power over others and are among the main culprits as to why so many devyah are enslaved. Even the dakini that do not engage in slavery still tend to gravitate towards positions of power. They are also known for collecting large harems. Sadism is common among the dakini with some of the most extreme ones even learning how to feed on the pain and suffering of others. That ability is frowned upon by most dakini, though less so from a moral perspective and more so because it is highly addictive.
There is a sizable minority of dakini who through great effort have cast away their aggressive, sadistic nature. They are often referred to as reformed dakini. Often these are dakini who have been raised by a rankini or devi without interference from another dakini. They make for powerful allies and protectors for the devyah and rankini. Yet they too tend to collect large harems, though now on a more voluntary basis. Seeing that it is possible to sometimes change their ways, many free devyah and rankini have a “I can fix them” attitude towards their evil kin. With some even actively seeking out to become a member of an unreformed dakini’s harem in an attempt to reform her. It is not uncommon for those to land themselves into serious trouble when the dakini turns out to be beyond reforming.
Dakini like to show off. They flaunt their wealth by wearing expensive jewelry and adorning their skin with expensive piercings, tattoos, and/or magical runes. They also flaunt their bodies by wearing only thin, revealing clothes even in situations where this is ill-advised like, say, combat. In such situations this is usually done as an arrogant display of their power, for example showing off that they are powerful enough to not need armor. As frustrating as it might be, they are usually right.
In bed the dakini are often aggressive, sadistic dominatrices. They don’t let themselves be held back by silly concepts like consent. They like to be on top and are often into rough sex where they force their partner into submission. They usually prefer partners who put up a fight over those that immediately roll over and let the dakini have their way with them. Exhibitionism is also a common kink among the dakini. What better way to show-off their power than to claim their partner in public? The reformed dakini are much more varied in their preferences. Many still like to take on the role of a dominatrix, but to them mutual consent in highly important. Oddly enough, when it comes to female partners most dakini, be they reformed or not, show little interest in mamono who are not members of the devi family.
Name That Mamono: Dommy Mommy Mali-Ka
Kali is a winged dakini from Utukku in Kaori. Though her age is in the triple digits she is still a young woman; by dakini standards she will not be viewed as a full adult for at least another century. She was born to a devi slave mother but was taken away as an infant by a ruthless dakini warlord who took her on as her adoptive daughter, deeming herself better suited to raise a dakini than some lowly slave. Her adoptive mother was an exceptionally cruel woman who taught Kali pyromancy, how to fight, and most sinister of all how to feed on the suffering of others. The final test of her childhood was to break a particularly loathsome devi slave and gorge herself on the devi’s suffering. That is how Kali learned who her real mother was. Horrified and disgusted she confronted her adoptive mother, which would have earned her the chopping block were it not that she was still a dakini and hence she was exiled instead. A chance encounter during her exile landed her a job as the lead vocalist of an up and coming erotic shock band named Amarante in Chains. Their up-beat explosive instrumentals, harsh vocals, grunts, provocative lyrics, spectacular flaming performances, and of course their pet gimp shirohebi suspiciously named Amarante, quickly made them rise to fame. Kali adopted the stage name of Dommy Mommy Mali-Ka. True to the band's reputation she always performs topless while wielding a giant flaming whip ready to punish all the bad boys and girls from Arcadia and beyond. Having performed for well over three decades now it is safe to say Mali-Ka no longer suffers from stage fright, but their upcoming sold-out gig in Zarom has her nervous as there will be a familiar face among the guests of honour.
KUROHEBI
Family: Lamia
Type: Reptile
Habitat: Close to fresh water (near ponds, rivers, or lakes)
Disposition: Devoted, tempting, lustful
Diet: Carnivorous; spirit energy
Rarity: Very Rare
Kurohebi are among the larger mamono of the lamia family and distinguish themselves by having dark skin, the lower body of a black snake and, most commonly, stark black hair. Their personalities tend towards being lustful temptresses, and most of their kind feel a natural urge to corrupt others into lust and debauchery. When others behold them they are often given an impression of that corrupting influence. This influence inflames the passions of those who lay eyes upon them, causing a rise in lust and debauched thoughts. Particularly weak-willed individuals might even lose control of themselves altogether and fall to an incessant need to perform depraved acts right where they are. This trait leads to kurohebi being desired by those who are particularly concerned with filling their lives with all manner of lewdness and depravity.
Kurohebi tend to be very attuned to magic, and it is rare for one of them to be born without a natural aptitude for it -- hydromancy in particular tends to be their forte. Kurohebi also tend to feel a close connection with water in general and fresh water in particular. It is rare for one of them to live in an area far removed from rivers, lakes, or at least a large pond. Whether this connection stems from their close attunement to hydromancy or the other way around is not known.
As is typical of mamono most kurohebi feel a great desire for a human lover. When they find one that strikes their particular fancy they will go to great lengths to acquire what they desire, but unlike many other mamono kurohebi will almost never engage in outright rape. Instead they will closely observe and learn all there is to know about their target before they ever show themselves. Kurohebi have a tendency to be attracted to particularly virtuous men, perhaps as a contrast to their own corruptive tendencies. Such virtue, however, also means that the ones they pursue are not easily swayed by the debauched aura that surrounds them.
Only once she learns all she wishes to know will a kurohebi reveal herself and her intentions. Showering the man with love, devotion, and devilish temptation will quickly eat away at his steadfastness. While she will not forcefully initiate sex she will resort to fulfilling all of their intended lover’s secretly held desires to ensnare him. It doesn’t matter whether this involves cooking his favorite meal or coiling her long tail around him and wrapping him up tight. No matter whether it be through breathtaking dishes, by making him breathe in her intoxicating smell and feeling the luxuriously smooth feeling of both her scales and her skin, or through any other means she has uncovered in advance, the kurohebi is sure to use whatever means necessary to sway the one she has set her sights on. Few men can maintain their resistance in the face of such endless arousal and temptation for long, and soon he will desire sex just as much as his soon-to-be wife. Once caught in maddening lust the kurohebi’s husband will feel a desperate urge to embrace her in his arms -- a desperate urge that the kurohebi shares. Winding her smoothly scaled tail tighter around her husband makes him feel almost like his body is sinking into a warm, comforting morass. This comfort is greatly needed, as breeding sessions have been observed to last days at a time, and the kurohebi’s natural aptitude for hydromancy is sure to come in handy. The pleasure experienced during that time will cause the man to be utterly engrossed with his wife and wish to serve her needs and wants.
Kurohebi are not a particularly jealous kind of mamono as long as they receive plenty of their husband’s attention. In fact it has been observed that kurohebi are very likely to encourage their husbands to fling their seed far and wide. After all, a specimen magnificent enough to catch their attention surely should sire as many daughters as possible! To that end a kurohebi will often encourage her husband to engage in dalliances with other women of her choosing. Soon after finding a partner that particular desire will begin to swell into a mass of mana within the kurohebi. Though kurohebi are mostly attuned to water this mass of mana will manifest in the form of a flame that they seek to pour into their husbands. This “Fire of Desire” ignites the man’s body and mind from the inside and fills him with irrefutable lust. Most often this lust will be unleashed upon the kurohebi herself, but she might also direct it towards other women that she deems worthy of her husband's seed and essence. While this flaming desire greatly enhances a man’s vigor and physical strength it can only be quelled by the kurohebi herself or by those other partners she deems suitable.
This particular quality of theirs causes kurohebi to be looked at with suspicion by those mamono who vigorously prefer strictly monogamous relationships. Shirohebi in particular are known to seize their husbands and pour their flames of jealousy into them as a precaution if they have a notion that a kurohebi might be anywhere in their vicinity. Bicorns, on the other hand, have been known to enthusiastically seek out kurohebi and invite them to team up when forming a harem around their husbands... the only point of contention usually being the ideal number of partners.
Name That Mamono: Musmada
At first glance, Musmada (mooz-MAH-duh) has it all -- beauty, moderate wealth, talent, and skill in equal measure. She even possesses the thing that so many mamono spend much of their lives in search of; a husband all her own… or largely her own. But ever since the seduction of her virtuous husband, certain desires have been welling up within her. Her mother told her about the Fire of Desire she would one day manifest, yet she never expected it to feel quite as it turned out to be. She thought it would be entirely under her control. Once she’d even wondered if she would manifest those desires at all. But now, occasionally, Musmada will be overcome with the need to set her husband to task, not just satisfying herself, but another. It started out simply, almost as a way to lord over other mamono and show off her husband. But things quickly escalated from there. It became almost like a challenge. To find another mamono that her husband would have to work hard to seduce while she added the seductive effects of her lewd aura to his efforts, only to snatch him away again at last.
But now Musmada has been overcome with thoughts of another question. Between her Fire of Desire and a shirohebi’s Flames of Jealousy, which would win out? Musmada has thus far not formally added another woman to her husband’s harem, and the thought of making a shirohebi the first gives her intense thrills. It is a risk, of course, but the rewards seem quite agreeable to her.
