Im the only one who felt episode 2 rushed?.
I didnt played the game but the last 7 minutes felt like those soap opera rescaps with cut scenes from the last episode.
I didnt understand well what was going on or when the scenes where ocurring.

Could someone who haved play the game confirm this?

No, I've played the game. The episode was still pretty rushed. They tried to cram a massive amount of lore material into a single episode to set up 3 different storylines in advance so yea, it's very convoluted

I mean it felt like ines was chasing something whenever she talks. It's like she's worried about running out of time.

It honestly felt like a recap. Because it touched upon a lot of major plot points in arknights, without laying it out and explain it to the viewers.

But if you're wondering ... Basically, kazdel is the homeland of sarkaz. But due to the civil war, many of them choose to become mercenary to escape from it. W, Hoerder and Patriot are the example of this. That's why patriot asked W about what happened in kazdel. He was once also part of the war and not completely unrelated to it.

I thought to myself at some point when through the majority of the episode "Oh boy - For those who voiced complaints claiming to be totally lost last week, good luck with this one..."

Truthfully, I really didn't see the validity in many of those complaints last week but in this instance I definitely would. Last week's episode, the first of the season, was largely confined to three main conversations/confrontations and set pieces, and every single thing shown was just a follow-up to and the playing out of events after what we had already seen in season two. Those who couldn't follow it were honestly just forgetting everything that had come before leading up to it in the prior season (or had never fully processed or comprehended it the first time around back in 2023 or whenever they watched it).

This, by contrast, was loaded to the brim teeming with new information, revelations, and perspectives, constantly jumping around in time, etc. I had to rewind more than a few times and go down the rabbit hole of heavy reading into Arknights lore online for expounding upon what was only very lightly touched upon in-episode here before they briskly moved on to cut to the next scene.

I was mostly just content and happy to finally see one of the girls of the vampire race appear in the show (Closure).

Yep, Yostar for some god forsaken reason only allowing for 8 episodes for Arknights (especially this season) is gonna result in them rushing stuff and cutting stuff out.

theres a lot of backstory for the whole rest of Birth of Tragedy and Burning Run (the two in game chapters of Act 1 I assume they want to cover) in this episode and it serves to just set up the rest of the Act. They don't have many episodes unfortunately and that makes this episode a little messy and I recommend youtube story summaries or to just play the game for those who are confused. This whole anime feels more like a thing for people who've already read the story to see it come more alive. I think that's just due to a small number of episodes allowed for each season which is a shame since there's so much amazing world building, side stories, and lore intertwined with the main story and it sucks that not all of it can be represented in the show.

@JannisT Oh right is 10 episodes, but even then that's way to short for Arknights (unless its one of the side events).

yes it is, they probably will be heavily reconstructing the story. that alone isn't that bad but i would too prefer if they were to cover the story more in-depth than what they're currently doing

Just thinking that it is a shame in a way however - and this season may end up being the fastest-paced one yet with the most info and happenings crammed in, but I thought this even at various points within the first and second seasons - that this ended up being unexpectedly one of my favorite series of the 2020s, for a multitude of reasons, and I have long gotten the sense that if it were structured and arranged to be much longer with a much higher episode count and runtime to go in more depth and allow actual space befitting the expansive scope of its story, character backgrounds, world/setting, and overall lore, that instead of giving this series always a 7/10 up to now it'd be an easy 8 or maybe even a 9.

As an Arknights player, the events of episode 2 made complete sense to me. Though I can certainly understand from an outsider’s perspective - with little to no knowledge of the game’s lore - that the episode felt quite “jumpy,” going from Part A to Part H, with many gaps and even more questions in between.

That tends to happen when you have 10 episodes and are told to fit X amount so they end on y

The first 2 season are exactly the same pacing... why are you even surprised at this? lol. Did you somehow skipped the first 2 seasons?

[first 2 seasons quite literally weren't anything like this]

The pacing was the same,

The only difference is season 3 added in "Side Stories", which made the anime look like there's a disconnect because they feel like "filter episodes".

(Which side stories was requested tons by the community since season 1 and continued to season 2, too bad people didn't expect them to put both Main and Side together into one. Doing so causes each episode to feel iike they're rushed because some part seems to end earlier then they're suppose to, and some parts are introduced earlier then they're suppose to.)

Season 1 and 2 didn't have many side stories, it was pretty much going in a linear Main Story telling, which made it feel less Rushed, but it was still slightly rushed, in term of people being confused on some parts of the Story that isn't fully explained (which ironically... some of those parts were in the Side Stories itself, lol)

AKA, it all goes back to... the anime is just made for people that's playing the game. If you played the game, you would be able to understand Arknight's story, so the anime doesn't feel confusing or rushed.

@amlg It literally was not,

Season 1 covered the material at a pretty good pace,

Season 2 covered twice the material of season 1 with the same amount of episodes,

Season 3 is covering more than twice the material of season 2 with only 2 extra episodes

"Season 1 and 2 didn't have many side stories" They didn't cover any side stories, season 3 covers 2 (Both in episode 2)

"which made the anime look like there's a disconnect because they feel like "filter episodes"" This would not be the case if anime onlies could actually understand what is going on, the real problem is these side stories need 1 or 2 more episodes to flesh out and show why they are important

"too bad people didn't expect them to put both Main and Side together into one" I did expect that, what I didn't want is for it to be Only 10 episodes. Honestly even the placement of the side story is pretty much perfect, they just needed more episodes

On a literal math level you are wrong, on the communities opinion you are wrong. The only thing you are right about is the fact this anime was mainly made for players of the game, likely by players of the game as a passion project. So despite it's shortcomings I can't bring myself to dislike it
