As The Apothecary diaries is mostly inspired by Imperial China during the Ming dynasty, I am curious to know if The Apothecary Diaries is popular in China ?

@Jackson_rajkumar oh they definitely do, but obviously the newer generations do. In fact, the most popular video streaming/sharing website from China, Bilibili, was named after Misaka Mikoto from the Toaru series, and celebrates Mikoto Misaka's birthday on its homepage every year on 2 May!

also apparently:
Bilibili also offers games, mostly ACG-themed mobile games, such as the Chinese version of Fate/Grand Order. In the third quarter of 2022, the number of average monthly active users reached about 332.6 million, including 28.5 million paying users.

- Wikipedia

But about the original topic, I'm not really sure.

It's somewhat popular, on their Bilibili manga page with ancient themed manga genre it has over 700 comments. But still it's only 10% of popularity of Nagatoro that has 7000 comments and it pales in comparison of other mangas it's hard to judge about the anime since i can't find anime dedicated page. It's definitely more popular within Japanese or westerners. So answer is yes but also nope.

i don't think, because they even censor some cleavage so series like this would be ban. it's just my speculation, I don't know the details
