Most likely not in this year. Winter or Spring 2025 is probably a good estimate if White Fox is at the helm, but if there's another studio involved then no one can even guess, and it becomes more complicated.

I feel like they'll want to get it out this year, since it's Kadokawa's infinite money generator. So my guess is Fall 2024. Though I was kinda hoping for Spring, so we could have Re:Zero, Tensura, Konosuba, and Mushoku Tensei in the same season 😅

But Anime Japan is coming up (March 23-24), and Emilia is on the key visual for it. So we'll probably get an official release date then.

A studio can have more than 1 anime going at a time. MAPPA, Bones, WIT all do it. And Kyoto did it with Violet Evergarden and A Silent Voice

2025 winter is my guess tbh, if not fall 2024
mostly because the leaks predict it to be between 35-45 episodes, so at least 15-20 episodes needs to be produced before airing to complete the rest while airing (normally how it's done for most anime except special case episodes that are given special schedules)

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

1. All of the studios you mentioned are on another level compared to what white fox is nowdays (not what it used to be)
2. A 3 consecutive cour series requires a LOT more effort than just a normal seasonal
3. If it really is white fox making re zero and the leaks about it also being 3 cour are to be believed then they’ll definitely have to put a lot of effort into making it as good if not better than the previous seasons which would be very hard with another 3 cour also airing

If you could calculate when the Re Zero manga catches up to the end of season 2, then I think that would give us a good guess. Because the manga is based on the anime, it can't pass the anime. I know they're nearing the end of what was season 2, but I'm not sure how many volumes left.

Also, my prediction is for the summer or fall season. I believe season 2 release date was announced only a month before release date, so there's still hope for this year.

Edit- I just remembered they switched directors. That may actually push it back to 2025 2026

@Okeanix they aired Utawarerumono: Futari no Hakuoro in 2022 so they did something as for 2023 most likely because they were working on Sengoku youko so they took the year off.
