I am fully caught up on the LNs and have read them all in Japanese. (no spoilers)

Tomozaki has great chemistry with many of the girls and it's easy to imagine him dating any one of them, but the difference is that for the other girls, it'd be nice to date Tomozaki, but even if they don't, they might be heartbroken for a while but eventually move on and live happy lives.

Aoi is different. She NEEDS him. If she doesn't win, she will, in a sense, remain alone her whole life. She's so messed up and only Tomozaki can fix her.

I don't see any problem with that, Mimimi for the win. Too bad the Fūka pairing is not that popular even though

You read it in Japanese? Will it be difficult for me? I passed the N2 exam some time ago and have been watching J-subbed anime for almost a year now. Recently, I also started reading raw manga. My vocabulary is about 9-10 thousand words, I think.

Is this LN hard to tackle?

Anyway, regarding your original question… I’ve only seen the first season of anime and read the LN to that point as well (in English). Well, up to that point it’s mainly been focusing on building social relationships, establishing trust and stuff like that. Hearing that Tomozaki could date any of the girls no problem kinda sounds like it’s starting to turn into a harem. I might be wrong, though.

Why?
Despite what season 1 made you to believe, she’s not meant to be a love interest like some of the other girls aren’t, if she were, that would make this story predictable and generic as all hell.

Exactly how I feel on it being generic. The first girl normally shows up to have any character. Usually ends up being the love interest. Even in cast of characters Aoi and Tomozaki are labeled as main characters, and everyone else as support. Kinda a cheat of what's going to happen,

i've never really seen this show as a romance anime but more as a journey of self-improvement. What girl he gets is basicly irrelevant to the plot.

Huh. Didn't even realize people viewed this as a harem where they try and predict who the love interest would be. For me it was just a show based on self improvement, and I especially loved it because it showed by the end of the first season that even someone like Aoi, who seems perfect to the outside looking in, would still have points to improve on. It always felt like a show centered on self-improvement and reflection; even with a love interest blooming between the two main characters, I never saw it as a series that prioritized romance, let alone towards the other characters.

I fw this statement heavy. I know they push Tomozaki's relationship with Fuuka but I feel like him ending up with Aoi seems like the right move to me because he's been with her the most. (Totally not biased because I like Aoi)
