I've only read the manga up to chapter 10 back in the day, forgot about until I realize there's an anime airing.

Opinions seem very divided on this show but manga readers still like the manga.

So what makes the manga better than the anime? What is the anime doing wrong?

To be fair, it’s a pretty decent anime overall, the hate is all coming from a user called Johan starting repeated threads trashing the show as well as hijacking any positive threads to insult anyone who likes it. It’s a one man(?) campaign. Ignore him and it’s gone down fairly well.

to be very honest, i liked the anime. What made the anime to decline is how the plot deviated and the unnecessary elements. The hate on the MC Adonis and how Doroka was always a pacifist is a factor too. We got a peek at how the world despised witches and therefore it should strictly be fantasy in medieval times but we started seeing technology on a whole new level. It felt odd because that made no sense. Even more than that, we started seeing different countries with different cultures like the country with samurais. We got introduced to the dystopian element and we started seeing cyborgs and advanced machineries and weapons. Bruh, what's the idea? how do all this correlate with what the anime was meant to be.

and then there's Adonis. personally, I like him but others despise him because he supposedly acts like a child and is hellbent on wiping out the humans because of what happened to Chloe. He finally got the chance to revive Chloe but turns out his resolve was half-assed and he decided to revive Doroka. What was the point of all the humans you killed if you didn't even revive Chloe? he still insists that the humans are evil but anytime Doroka opens his heart to the feeling of happiness, he shuts it away because he is convinced that his revenge is his sole reason for living.

well, that's that

I'm not a manga reader, but after finishing the adaptation I don't think I will read it.

While it's true that the animation studio doesn't have the best track record, it stems more from the source material that they were given is not the best in the field. I would assume the same to be true for the manga of this show.

Note that I'm blaming the source material more doesn't mean that the animation was good.

I've heard that this is actually a sequel to another manga called "The Kingdom of Culibrun" aka "Tsurugi no Oukoku" so that might factor into the plot.

haven't read the manga, but I am thinking about doing it. So can only answer what they did wrong.

For me what they did wrong, was the arc on the moon. It didn't have time or power enough to build op to that blood bath that happened at the end of the arc. Just some more dialogue, a flashback, some exploration of the place, just something, since it seemed kinda rushed storywise.

I really liked the start and after the moon arc. Because the start had a very powerful beginning, really setting the scene and after the moon arc, were there time to build the characters and understand the world. These things just made the fights seem more important and more justified.

Manga "just" have horrible character writing and awful plot, anime has all that and shitty animation, making it worse than manga which at least has a good art.
Also LOL at people who think this isn't widely disliked, everywhere I've seen where people discuss anime it's either almost unanimously criticized, or there are like five people still remaining to discuss it in its threads.

All this expert judgement from someone who watched 1 episode. You’re just passing on second hand trash talk, why bother?

I've read the source manga, and episode threads make it clear that anime was a faithful adaptation.

Omg, are you saying that the hate came from a guy called Johan? Shit, this could be the biggest reference to Monster that I ever seen. He just acted like in the show creating hate from something just for watching the declind of the community from the top.

The majority of people don't like this anime at all. Just look at the metrics and it shows.

@ScrewFiction Yea cause it's some kind of low grade webtoon. Don't think MAL lists webtoons.

@mechian They do list a lot of webtoons so I don't see why not

but well that explains the ensembleverse and why the queen and Doroka are looking identical and why there's a red-haired Adonis

edit there are 175 chapters to Calibrun, and all but 8 are lost?! wtf...
