Okay I know people here don't want anymore posts about this but this is a genuine question.

People here were talking a few weeks back about dimming, something Studios did to episodes to prevent seizures.
I just want someone to confirm if it's also on Netflix?

Because I'm trying to see JJK S2 on Netflix(I'm not caught up) and there's this wierd thing happening where the screen gets darker in some scenes. Or the scene seems to become slow.

I just want to confirm if it's a thing in Anime or if it's something in my Netflix setting or my device.

Thank You.

There definitely is, I just checked

I think if one platform has dimming the others also has dimming, it's not like a censorship thing with something like ecchi shows

If they do remove the dimming it'll probably be on the bd/dvd release

From what I understand the dimming is there because JJK airs in the late night slow on TV in Japan and at that time, dimming occurs to prevent any Photoepileptic seizures or things of that sort.
Its only gonna be absent in the BDs. Since those are made for Home media.

@ReXiRa Oh okay. Thank you.

I was confused because I remember someone saying that the dimmed episodes were just for Crunchyrol and that crunchyroll or someone else had the undimmed episodes.

So I thought maybe they put the undimmed episodes on Netflix.

I'm gonna be honest. It's kind of a bummer.

Anyway thank you for your help.

@Biisoo Oh I know why it's there. I've heard of the very famous incident where a Pokémon episode gave a bunch of kids seizures.

I just thought it won't be on Netflix since Netflix isn't cable. But I guess it is.

I was just wierded out for a bit.

It does make me wonder where do the YouTube clips get undimmed scenes from?

Because the Clips on YouTube don't seem dimmed.

You can find 60fps versions of JJK episodes online which I think remove the dimming but 60fps doesnt suit anime imo. But the person who does those removes the dimming because he applies some extrapolation or mumbo jumbo filters haha xD

@Biisoo Oh that makes sense. At first I was trying to see some of the cool scenes from S2 on YouTube and they indeed were in 60fps.

But the movements were so fast and wierd that I decided to just see the episodes on Netflix.

Yeah, idk if studios ever are going to stop with dimming. I sort of wish they would just have a warning at the beginning for seizures. But that’s just how it is, blame Porygon.
The right mindset when watching an anime is hoping that it will break your top 10
