Anatu hatched from the egg of an Echidna mother and is as of yet the only known cerberus in existence. She has the lower body of a short- and dark-furred hound and a humanoid upper body. She possesses three heads which float in the vicinity of her neck but can be fully removed by pulling hard enough. She also sports tufts of longer fur around her forearms, legs, and where her upper humanoid form meets her lower hound form. Her heads and upper body resemble those of a hellhound. Her lower body is heavily muscled with the thighs of her hind legs being twice the thickness of an average man’s. Anatu also sports a long prehensile tail topped by red glowing spikes and ending in a similarly luminous hard and pointy tip. Her body and tail are each about two and a half meters in length, and she stands about three meters tall counting her floating heads. Anatu appears to have no talent for the magical arts whatsoever, though whether that will be a defining characteristic of her kind remains to be seen… if she is able to propagate.
The designation “cerberus” was given to Anatu by her father, who likened her to a legendary Earth creature who guarded the gates of a mythical underworld. Spurred on by her father’s stories, Anatu has developed a fascination with guarding gates and thresholds since her childhood, and so she became part of Alnor’s city guard. Her triumph lasted only for a short time, as she was never assigned to guard any gates at all due to her propensity to allow none to pass. In annoyance at how her superiors squandered her great talent for guarding gates she departed Alnor when she turned 25 in search of a passage or gate worthy of her watchful vigilance. She briefly guarded the Turl Pass, a popular travel route between Amarante and Teremir, but was evicted after many complaints by merchants and other travelers who had been barred from passing through. Not one to be discouraged, Anatu set out once more and finally found an abandoned keep in poor repair. With such ferocity did she guard the gate that none dared attempt to enter.
Each of Anatu’s three heads has a distinct personality. The middle head is called Anatu-Alpha, has the greatest control of their shared body, and is the most opinionated of the three. Some might describe her as a bit simple-minded and impulsive. The head to the right is called Anatu-Mu and enjoys the second highest degree of control over their shared body. Anatu-Mu is intensely curious and, when no one stops her, will heap a barrage of questions onto anyone who knows anything about a subject that garners her interest. Anatu-Omega, the final head, is someone who thinks before she acts. She is both the most intelligent of the three and the one with the least control over their shared body. She often acts as counselor to the other two and tries to convince them of her preferred course of action rather than taking it herself.
Even though the three have quite distinct personalities they share a strong territorial instinct and playfulness. In spite of her rather imposing appearance that obvious playfulness was also the reason she was simply evicted from the Turl Pass without further consequences. Curiously, the three heads are able to change position, which they do often, yet the middle head will always display the personality of Anatu-Alpha and so on. Their father suspected that perhaps the three heads' distinct personalities may be another one of their games, but no one has ever managed to confirm whether this is true.
Though the three Anatus quite enjoy guarding their keep they can’t help but wonder how long it will take for a man to stumble upon it. Anatu-Omega has already talked her sisters into a plan to convince the man to “cross their threshold” in exchange for crossing the threshold of their keep. Anatu-Mu has proposed asking Lord Amarante for help in obtaining a mate since she would surely help ensure the future of cerberus-kind. Anatu-Alpha was almost convinced until Anatu-Omega argued that no self-respecting guardian of the underworld (abandoned keep) would lower herself to beg for a man to keep her company.
MELUSINE
Family: Mermaid
Type: Fiend
Habitat: Fresh water
Disposition: Creative, melancholic, lustful
Diet: Omnivorous; spirit energy
The melusine is a mid-ranking fiend type mamono that has both succubus and mermaid features. They prefer to live in buildings or ruins located next to bodies of freshwater, be they rivers, streams, ponds, or lakes. Their lower bodies are serpentine fish tails like those of mermaids, but they also have wings and horns like succubi.
In addition to being capable spellcasters melusine are also intelligent problem solvers. No scholar has been able to explain why, but many melusine are obsessed with masonry, architecture, and especially labyrinthine structures. Many a great architect in the history of Arcadia turned out to be a melusine. Melusine are also known to request frivolous conditions to be set by both partners, to which the other must adhere, before entering a relationship.
Because melusine have both mermaid and succubus features scholars have argued endlessly over how they should be classified. The classification that has gained the most traction has the melusine as a member of the mermaid family but also a fiend type as their blood has more in common with succubus blood than mermaid blood. Like mermaids Melusine can shapeshift into a form that is better suited to moving on land; their terrestrial form moprhs the fish tail into something more like what nereids have where otherwise a succubus tail would be. A melusine’s powerful wings are not suitable for flight. Instead, they act more as a pair of back-mounted flippers that make them deceptively fast and agile while in the water.
Melusine are capable magic wielders, and true to their succubus nature eromancy is usually the first magic school they try their hands at. Furthermore they have sharp, creative minds but are also prone to bouts of melancholy. Melusine keep their minds trained by regularly challenging themselves with puzzles, conundrums, paradoxes, and/or logical problems. If presented with a particularly challenging problem they can brood on it for hours on end while forgetting the entire world around them.
Melusine tend to have several peculiar interests or obsessions. One such obsession, which is especially noteworthy as it is shared among the majority of melusine, is a boundless fascination with masonry, architecture and all manner of structures. This fascination has led to, despite them being aquatic mamono, there being more geomancers than hydromancers among the melusine. It is also a major determining factor as to where a Melusine will prefer to settle down, with them even willing to settle down in a pond or large fountain if it is next to a great work of architecture. Be warned, though, so far all attempts at basing a system of government around melusine laying in ponds and distributing swords has been met with catastrophic failure.
A melusine's greatest weakness is that she isn’t naturally able to provide her husband with a water-breathing spell, and hence she will have to either study hydromancy or partner up with another mamono who can. Melusine like to set odd and frivolous conditions for their partner(s) to adhere to in the relationship, and they like for their partner to come up with similar conditions for them as well. They then take great joy in trying to come up with creative ways to either circumvent the conditions or to break them. Failing to adhere to such a demand is usually “punished” by having to provide a sexual service to their partner, which for a member of the succubus family is no punishment at all.
Melusine are perfectly capable of having sex in either their aquatic or terrestrial form and do not seem to have a specific preference for one or the other -- in fact many melusine like to switch between forms during nookie. While it is complicated and requires focus, transforming mid-act is perfectly safe for the partner and provides them with a unique sexual experience.
Name That Mamono: Palatyne
Palatyne is an intelligent girl, but she is also only eighteen years old. Just like humans, even smart young mamono tend to do brilliant things that those boring old people would call “reckless” or “plain stupid.” In Palatyne’s case she ignored her mother’s warnings and secretly experimented with advanced eromancy spells without reading the part in the tomes that talked about what exactly those spells did, because "I ain’t got time for that!" Thus she accidentally cast a seal on her own womb and womanhood that has prevented her from receiving any sexual relief since. The spell, however, has not stopped her lust from slowly building up, nor has it stopped her sexual fantasies from running wild; bondage especially has been pogo-sticking through her mind recently. Obviously the most sensible way to deal with the problem was to zealously hide it from her mom and try to find a way to dispel the spell in secret. To her dismay that has proven quite the problem, as it requires frequent vaginal sex with the same man. By now her desire is pent-up so much that the seal has begun to glow, which makes it a lot harder to hide it from her mother, so she has left her home in northern Amarante to go on a long solo “soul searching” journey. At least, that is what she told her mom to buy herself some more time to sort this mess out.
PUSSYBUS
Family: Succubus
Type: Fiend
Habitat: Urban areas
Disposition: Meek, devoted, submissive
Diet: Omnivorous; spirit energy
Sugar, spice, and everything nice. These were the ingredients chosen to magically create the perfect domesticated catgirls… but professor Echidna accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction: Lewdium Y. Thus, the pussybi were born.
Pussybi are a common hybrid species that combines the traits of a werecat and a succubus. Aside from their cat ears and sleek, long succubus tails they otherwise have fully humanoid bodies. When it comes to physical and magical ability they got the short end of the stick, for they inherited the innate magical ability of a werecat and the physical prowess of a succubus. While they can give a werecat a run for her money when it comes to flexibility, they lack the paws, claws, strength, and speed of their feline kin. Furthermore, pussybi lack their succubus cousins’ aptitude for magic. At best they can cast a few basic eromancy spells for use in the bedroom.
Like the kamaitachi pussybi always come in sets of three, though pussybi are always identical triplets. Pussybus triplets’ identicality goes far beyond that of normal triplets. Not only are their bodies identical down to the position of moles and other minute flaws, but their minds appear to be identical as well. In fact research has found some bizarre peculiarities that point to the unsettling conclusion that they might be a single mind sharing three individual bodies. These conclusions are further supported by their strong aversion to being separated from their sisters and their rapid mental and physical deterioration after one of the sisters perishes. This would show itself through, for example, erratic and poorly controlled motor skills and/or shared memory loss. In fact, once one sister dies the other two usually follow suit within a few years.
If a pussybus is knocked up then so are her sisters. Each gives birth to a single pussybus that is identical to the other two, forming a new pussybus triplet. In rare cases a sextuplet is born when all three pussybi are pregnant with non-identical twins that form a pair of identical triplets. There have even been a few exceptional cases of a nonuplet being born. Never has a pussybus trio given birth to a number of daughters that wasn’t a multiple of three.
Due to their meek and submissive behaviour, not only towards their husbands but also towards other mamono, many argue that pussybi lack agency or even true personalities. The fact that pussybi prefer to be put on a leash by their master or mistress does not help to dispel that notion. The pussybi themselves, however, argue that a life of servitude and devotion is the lifestyle that makes them happy. It should come as no surprise, then, that pussybi are usually employed in the service industry as maids, butlers, or tavern wenches.
Their lack of both magical ability and physical prowess has left them in a terrible position to defend themselves or their husband should they be forced to do so, therefore pussybi are reliant on more capable or influential mamono for their protection. Sadly, not everyone has their best interests in mind, and pussybi are easy targets for exploitation. However, this glaring weakness is also a strength, for their obedience, loyalty, and low maintenance has made them an attractive choice as token secondary wives for many a powerful mamono. Aside from using them as household servants they can be kept perfectly happy with meager leftovers, thereby allowing the mamono to keep up an image that she too shares the burden of not having a man to herself without having to make actual compromises with other wives.
When it comes to their bedroom preferences, here too pussybi prefer to take a submissive and subservient role. They especially like it when their partner(s) tell them exactly what they are going to do to them, how they are going to do it, and then do exactly that. Also pussy-play is well known to have them purring in no time.
Ironically the bedroom is also the most likely place for a pussybus to take on a dominant role, for if their partner’s (or partners’) desire is to play a more submissive role then the pussybus’s nature to serve that desire will overpower their usually meek and submissive behaviour.
Name That Mamono: Nip, Pip, and Zip
Nip, Pip, and Zip are a typical voluptuous pussybus triplet. They work as underpaid housemaids for a rich baroness from northern Elizabeth. They love and adore their mistress even though she is not the sharpest tool in the shed. Their mistress has to leave regularly for business, which makes Nip, Pip, and Zip sad, but thankfully when the mistress returns she is usually in the mood to be coddled by the triplet, who are eager to show their mistress exactly how much they missed her. Nevertheless, they can’t help but secretly wonder what would happen if one day their mistress returned with a husband by her side.
