Can someone explain why Sophie felt the need to destroy Howl's Castle?

Okay I feel like I'm probably just an idot or something because I don't understand why Sophie evacuated everyone from Howl's Castle (destroying it in the process) and then somewhat rebuilding it afterward. Can someone please provide an explanation for me?

Calcifer was the one keeping the house together so that’s why it was destroyed. He was taken out of the house so there wasn’t anything keeping it together after

wasnt it because suliman’s ships were coming and she didnt want them to find howl’s castle?? thats why she had to take out calcifer so it would be unrecognizable as howls castle (i think idk lol) and then rebuilt it after

She said it herself that it was to remove the connection between the castle and the place howl was fighting (in order to protect the castle and sophie). Breaking the castle broke the connection and then she rebuild it

I know that's how the Castle broke but I want to know why it was she did that.

The castle was a representation of Howls internalized pain and him “building a fortress” around his emotions. She needed to tear down the walls around him to allow him to heal.

I know that's how the Castle broke but I want to know why it was she did that.

Sophie said it herself that it was to remove the connection between the castle and the place howl was fighting to protect the castle and sophie. so removing calcifer destroyed the castle but also broke the connection so howl wouldn't have to protect it and then they rebuilt it

I think for one it lessened the toll on calcifer cause he didn't have to connect the house to 4 places at same time and not keep unnecessary parts together letting him move it faster
