I'm guessing Gantz is the man inside the ball because he smiles to himself once and opens his eyes once. Plus he's well, hooked up to the ball.

Is his motive sick entertainment? On the other hand, if he's so disgusted by humans and society then why does he make those games and revel in what he supposedly hates most? Isn't that just hypocritical? (similar to blue-hair at the end who justifies his killing lust on his past)

I'm also guessing the "aliens" are real and are just invisible to the human eye. There is no logical reason to kill them because they just want to be left alone. So I guess that's just a part of Gantz's warped game.

Disclaimer: I do understand the moral psychological point of the story! However,just because there is a "deeper meaning" doesn't justify all the loose ends and questions that are never explained.
