| Just finished watching this and although there are questions about the ending, I'm more intrigued about what the significance of the . If anyone has any information from anywhere or is it never really explained. |

| As far as the movie goes, I don't know if there's any insight beyond that, but it simply just correlates with its time, as the aunt explains it; a beautiful piece at a time of war and famine, which seems like is what's happening in the future. Thus, for whatever reason, he basically wants to look at this "inspirational" painting at his time of war and famine, just like that painting was done in its own time of war and famine. |
