This recap was actually how Hideo Kojima found out about Violet Evergarden, it caused the hashtag to start trending on Twitter, he noticed it, and then he binged the whole 13 episodes.

Just over one year ago actually. And it was a cut specifically made to fit the the timeslot of the NTV Friday Roadshow (a big deal with a lot of "normie" viewers). They made a cut down version of Violet Evergarden the Movie for the same program slot just a few weeks ago. These only require reediting material from already produced anime, and they reach a wide audience who would not otherwise watch late-night anime like this, so I would hardly say they are a waste of resources for the studio.

Does seem quite pointless but I suppose it’s mainly for the people still watching Violet Evergarden, who can have a recap of things if they forgot something.
