Because this anime falls into what I’m about to say, can there be like a tag for animes with the main goal of making it to nationals or win some type of inter school tournament? I like those type of shows and it’d be easier to find if we can categorise them.

Yes we address that tag as "Sports".

Basically all sports have some type of tournament especially in anime so you can really put them in any distinct category. Probably team sports?

Winning is the sole purpose of every sport, otherwise the characters cannot evolve and elevate their career. Same goes for extreme and more fictional anime like Air Gear, Sk8 the Infinity, Tribe Nine, etc. So there's no need for extra tags.

If you like Haikyuu, "team sports" is what you need. There are several good shows about baseball and basketball, for example, following this formula and developing their colorful cast at the same time. I'd recommend you "Ace of the Diamond".

after finishing haikyuu I wanted to find another sports anime that I liked just as much and I've seen a few but the one that I'm currently watching that I think closest compares to haikyuu would be 'ace of diamond' so I definitely recommend that.

(also side note there are alot of VAs you might recognise in that show from haikyuu)

The one that does it with the same amount of depth of characters, including opposing teams, is Diamond no Ace. It seriously slept on since it’s no published by Shonen Jump but is and has been doing everything right in my opinion.
