Bondrewd tricked all of the kids into coming on his ship and into the abyss.

That’s all that he’s referring to. There are no warm feelings, the kids were homeless and didn’t know better than to go with Bondrewd

If Nanachi never listened to all of his promises about the wonders of the abyss they would have stayed safe on the surface. Instead they gave into Bondrewd’s sweet talk or “honeyed words” and followed him to the depths of the netherworld.

i took it to mean that either she would be dead already if she hadnt followed him, or she wouldve never met her "treasure" mitty and experienced some happiness in life. i think the being dead thing makes more sense though

She is saying that she would likely be dead, had she not met Bondrewd. She blames herself for believing his sweet talk, but the main sentiment here is the realization coming over Nanachi that, even though she now has different feelings about Bondrewd, and even though she has some regret about joining him, she would probably have died had she not.

I think the idea is that all living things cling to life when faced with danger. Imposing logic and morality on one’s previous choices after circumstances have changed will just lead to regret.

The only person who wants to live to be 100 years old is someone who is 99.

I thought it meant that despite everything Nanachi has been through, if she hadn’t fallen for the flattery she’d never have met Mitty, Reg or Riku and she’d probably have died a long time ago
