Alot of stigma Trigger shows get is the approach to a very formulaic story which always gets highlighted as its weakest link rather than what they're mostly known for which are the dynamic shots, a raw impure approach to cinematography, animation, the kanada school, and overall visual aesthetic that is unique and differs from the usual anime you know. BNA completely got produced out of nowhere, no adaptation, no merch line, just a random ass anime from studio Trigger that hit the ballpark of the same quality production of their other shows for no reason.

Most people recommending Trigger shows would start with Kill La Kill, almost everyone knows this and have probably watched it and loved it. Others would even recommend Gurren Lagann, Something really similar while it is Gainax the people who worked on it soon founded Trigger themselves and it shows. Its fine and all but once they get exposed to those, other shows seem lackluster in comparison. Let's be real a 25 ep series with a more mainstream hype surrounding it will definitely outweigh what Trigger can produce that ISN'T the same level as KLK. And we know the anime industry won't care for any passion project Trigger has if it isn't the same as KLK and the views from the audience will definitely expect to top that. Stuff like that is probably why Trigger rn is an outsource studio most of the time, they even had to set up a Patreon to produce Little Witch Academia. And now they're mostly Collaborating with other studios just to release something.

Thats why I recommend peeps BNA if they ever wanna go down the rabbit hole of anime thats kinda related to trigger, and some may like it, most will just say its fine, and maybe they just outright say they hate it (lol). And that's fine, that's why it's the best entry level series for Trigger. It's 12 eps, the animation, again, is amazing, and the writing is so formulaic that you can explain it's gonna be like that all the time. Then you start recommending next ones, Little Witch Academia -> Promare -> DarliFra -> Kill la Kill or something. hell throw in some inferno cop, Panty & Stockings. Tell them InoBato will never get a 2nd season.

tldr; It's like if trigger had a tutorial stage to enjoy what their other shows can be.

sorry for being wordy and kinda informal when writing this. I'm not really versed in vocabulary nor in grammar. But I just wanted to say I really loved this anime and I rewatched this during May 3, 2022 when spy x family was trending along with a lot of Slice of Lifes and rewatching this was a breathe of fresh air that Trigger can produce such a thing visually while the animes today just had the same concept and even the same animation that it was getting stale for me.

Triggers my favorite studio overall, everything they make looks amazing and have interesting enough stories to work. None of their series are particularly my favorite but they don’t disappoint.

Only if you’re a prude and don’t appreciate the fan service in Kill la Kill, BNA had a few cringe moments. And I prefer LWA’s cutesy laid back charm more. Even though animal girls usually win me over. They all good though.

I don't see the problem with watching the best shows first. People who love the Trigger style will enjoy their other shows as well. On the other hand, most people who don't like it will miss out on Kill la Kill (which I as a Trigger hater consider to be by far the best one) if they watch an inferior show first.

Never even seen kill LA kill.
I watched bna and actually quite liked it in the beginning but the end kinda ruined it for me.
I am still very grateful to trigger as they created my second favorite anime little witch academia, but honestly apart from these two titles I honestly dislike every other trigger work I've seen.

The problem with watching what came first makes it all the more obvious what studio Trigger is doing; Hiroyuki Imaishi trying to relive past glory though rehashing old idea. Once in a while it works out but most of the time it falls flat as it's clear all those old shows were great because of a collaborative effort and not just because of one person. Being different isn't enough and there's only so many times you can rehash old ideas before people get numb to it. Uchuu Patrol Luluco is basically their magnum opus.
