I’m an absolute sucker for shows with cute children. Often when there’s some sort of heart wrenching sad backstory but because they’re children they smile through it and don’t quite understand, but know the struggle there parents/older siblings/guardians are going through to make their lives better. Kind of like in Graveyard of the Fireflies. I particularly enjoy father-daughter adventure type stories like this or something like The Last of Us. Any anime recommendations?

Just as a side note, this show is criminally underrated. It has consistently ranked among my top anime of all time ever since I watched it about 2 years ago.

father-daughter type anime: usagi drop, spy x family, kakushigoto, amaama to inazuma, barakamon, udon no kuni, koutaro wa hitorigurashi, hinamatsuri.

mother-daughter: ookami kodomo.
mother-son: sayonara no asa.
sensei-student/daughter: Houseki no kuni

You should definitely check out “If It’s For My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord”. I think it’s exactly what you’re looking for.

If you're still interested in the topic or for those coming by and reading later, you should also give the now lesser known series, Aishiteruze Baby, from 2004, a try. Most often compared to the more famous and popular Usagi Drop from 2011 for those familiar with it, with a different age and life station for the male main character.

(Older cousin and young girl cousin).
