When does it get good

I started watching gintama recently although I laughed really hard at some episodes ( panty thief,ghost,3rd season celebration etc episodes) and some were good with heartwarming end but most episodes are still pretty dull

So I want to ask, from what point episodes are consistently funny/good ?

Consistently funny that's hard as it is subjective thing
But after let's say episode 100, 95% of the comedy episodes are a blast for me

Gintama is mostly just a comedy kind of show . it does have some serious arcs, the first one is the benizakura arc, just google for serious arcs. it gets better in the 2nd half, and really good in the future seasons

well, its great from the beginning but if you are seeking for where Gintama became GOATED (the jokes and the story)

i would say episode 100 and beyond

Try getting to Benizakura arc, if it doesnt get you hooked on the anime then just give up, it’s not for you

It got consistently good after 201 episodes for me i.e. Season 2. S3 and first two thirds of S4 were good as well but then it dropped in quality imo.

Gintama becomes more consistent the further it gets and the early episodes are a little rough, I'd say give it a few more episodes and if you find that it's not worth it just drop it because there is no particular point when it becomes suddenly great.

honestly I feel like after Shinsengumi arc the quality of Gintama just got a lot better including the comedy so keep on watching and you shouldnt regret

well, yoshiwara ark was really good and it comes around at 150 ep. After that there are more serious arks than comedy episodes.

Everything before Enchousen was really good. Everything after wasn’t so much, but to be fair Gintama basically adapted to what was going on trend-wise. It sort becomes fascinating to watch the show changed as the years progress, though you won’t see much of a transition in the first 300 eps.

I felt that Gintama had several ass-pulls towards the end that soured my experience, but the current rank of the series overall says otherwise (make of MALs ranking system as you will…)

The first serious arc is the benizakura arc is which is around episode 50 if you still don’t like then I’d say move on to something else by then.

They never get consistently good in my opinion. The series peaks at around episode 300, but it drops in quality after that. Though overall I’d say it improves during Gintama: Enchousen.
