The episode on crunchy is 25mins long but it was supposed to be a movie.

Does this mean that crunchy will release each movie split into 4 episodes with 1 episode every week? Just like seiran?

Yes, since there are 3 movies planned for Gekitotsu like with Seiran, I assume this entry will also be split into Gekitotsu 1, Gekitotsu 2, Gekitotsu 3 etc with ~4 episodes each to match it.

I think it makes more sense to just combine the three movies into one big entry, since they're clearly intended to be seen as such. The movie release is probably just a special early premier, and the "real" version would be the episoded TV release. I think the three entries of Season 2 should also be combined for this same reasoning tbh.

That's exactly right. If you are in Japan and don't go to the limited theatrical screenings then the only other way to watch these seasons is with the episodes as that's how they release in the blu-ray/streaming.

It's the episodic version and not the movie version that is intended by the creators as the version that will be watched for the rest of time and MAL shouldn't really use the very limited theatrical window as the basis for the inclusion in the database.

I agree with both of you in that's how it should be. I've seen this with other entries, but they should change Gekitotsu/S3 and Seiran/S2 to be a single 12 episode entry each just like Kaikou/S1, and in the description there should be something at the bottom like This series received a limited theatrical screening....
As it is right now, with each movie edit getting an entry and with the episode length reflecting how many episodes the movie covered, it adds needless bloat in my opinion and isn't very accurate.

i agree, Anilist just did that same thing, MAL should just follow how Crunchyroll streams them

If they're gonna fix it they need to get it done before next week or we'll be "completing" this entry lol

So we release an anime in a format of movie but... will show it by episode.
Isn't it called exactly not a movie? My brain exited discovering this
