So I immensely enjoyed this anime. The animation was superb, the characters were BA and interesting, and the story was very intriguing and makes me want more. Hence why I made this forum.

Without spoilers, do the people who have read the manga recommend continuing off from the anime to read the manga? Or on the other hand should I watch it as it releases in anime form to experience the events of the series for the first time in all its MAPPA glory. I am under the impression that the anime is widely considered a great adaptation. However, please speak out if you disagree with that statement.

To summarize, I want to know if I would miss out on entertainment value by reading ahead instead of waiting for the anime.

Not gonna say any spoilers but honestly you should read the manga and understand why it'll get even better than what was already shown. Your choice tho but just know it might be awhile before season 2 is animated

Well I recommend reading till chapter 78 and stop because then you should read JJK Volume 0. But since the anime movie is almost about to release. Then you can just watch the movie and then if s2 dates are announced but you want to read...then read it.

The manga is amazing after the anime finishes off! The big arc of the series is something absolutely worth reading! You can wait until it is adapted but I just couldn’t wait! :)

I’m hoping one of the major arcs is animated somewhat soon as it will be phenomenal if done well. The shibuya incident, it was mentioned in the anime before by some antagonists. This is one of my favourite arcs of all time in all the animanga I have seen. Very well written, good choreographed fights, interesting plot. This is a decent amount of chapters long, so this could take a while to animate. Even though I do think the anime is superior in every way, also considering the animation is very good, the manga is still quite great. I really appreciate JJK’s art art and art style, and that is where the manga shines. If you are fine with reading, I recommend reading this if you enjoyed the anime. If you are not keen on reading, then wait for the anime. Though, It was an amazing read if you ask me.

heck yeah that sounds awesome. I do love reading manga, although only recently have I started reading. Would you recommend I start from the beginning or pick up where the anime leaves off?

If you enjoy anime more than manga, I'd say stick to the anime. It has done a fantastic job as a faithful adaptation so there's not much benefit reading the manga other than your up to date and if there is any parts that don't line up with the manga you'd know the real story. If you can enjoy manga and anime about the same I would recommend the manga. Where the anime leaves off is just the beginning so you'll have a blast with the rest of the story.

I will also add that I don't think the next season will come out till mid 2023 so if that's too long take it into consideration as well

Well anime will be superior form because gege akutami works and helps in production and often fix some of his minor mistakes (there are no plotholes but mistakes in the sense, more screentime, better choreography, better comedy)
Best example is jjk0

But you should read manga
It's tooo good

Yeah I’d recommend the manga. The art is not necessarily the best in shounen but the fight choreography and panelization is really good & immersive.

yea read the manga, the art is way more sketch like than in the anime which i actually like cuz it adds a bit more grittiness to it which fits well with the tone of the story after s1 ends

If you just want to know what's going on in the manga and catching up with the story I suggest you to read the manga, it's really that good. But if you really want to get the same hype and feeling when watching the s1, I recommend to wait till s2 got released. Since the next arc is going to be wild af. You should wait since manga is a manga, it's just a bunch of image that aren't moving and you know, you'll get a better experience when watching the anime (no disrespect the manga is one of the best manga I've ever read)

But at the end of the day, it's your choice. Read the manga? Yes you could do that, I even recommend it. Wait till s2 released? You could also do that if you have enough patience, so yeah. The choice is yours

Read the manga. The plot starts to get really crazy from where the anime leaves off. You aren't ready for what happens lol.

The manga is very good. You should continue around chapter 78. The main problem is that the art is rough at times and it definitely bothers me sometimes too.

Well, things are just gonna get better, if you are impressed by S1 then you will definitely like the next part. In my opinion you should start the manga and S2 is not coming out anytime soon

I personally recommend reading after the anime. The anime adapts until chapter 63 so you can start on 64. I don’t think it is necessary to read from the beginning as I think the anime itself is very well adapted, and not much changes from the manga, so I would recommend reading from chapter 64 and onward. But its totally up to you. Not saying it’s a bad idea to read from the beginning. Enjoy the read!

The anime stopped at ~ chapter 64 if I’m not mistaken. You can keep reading but you’ll probably want to read JJK0 either before chapter 65 or after chapter 79. The movie will probably get translated in a couple months and released (which will cover JJK0) outside Japan if you want to wait for that. The manga is pretty far ahead as the anime’s only adapted a third of it. Considering season 2’s likely story it’s going to take forever to animate and fall 2023 release is probably where it’ll end up.

I’d say it’s up to whether you can wait for the movie or not to start reading. It’s up to 170 chapters so it’s a decently long read and very well drawn with a better story than the first season.

I'd just like to add that even though everyone is mentioning the Shibuya arc specifically, the other arcs around it are JUST AS GOOD. It's shockingly great overall

The names of the arcs are so badass, and they reveal nothing, so I wrote some of them if you're interested:

I absolutely love the manga however I've also heard that might be a reason to wait for the anime since It's so well made. The issue that comes with that is constantly rewatching seasons that came out before to get the full extent of the storytelling. That can for some people lead to care less due to the repetition but both is a problem. So i think It's better to stay with the manga, get engagrd there and then get happy af when a new season comes out because it's still amazing to watch, catches your emotions even better some times and is good for remembering what happened. Jjk also changes small things for the better in the anime so far which is another reason to consume both because it's different either way and both is good and hey you might even prefer different things than others.
So with an anime like this you can't go wrong with reading the manga imo.

Unpopular opinion: the anime is a very bad adaption.
Animation and VA is cool, but the direction is poor. Everything is more fleshed out in the manga.
Also many of the face expressions work better in manga form.

I prefer the manga too. The narration in the manga also makes it better. They removed it in the anime. Hopefully they won't remove it in Season 2 because it has some really cool lines.

Now that’s one unpopular opinion if I haven’t seen one.

The removal of narration was apparently a request by the author himself. Don’t know if they are going to reverse that for season 2 but it will
definitely help alot in this case.

Yeah. It is unpopular. I just prefer JJK manga over anime but I love the anime too. This is probably because my love for mangas + the anime is yet to adapt my favourite parts.

Yeah, I hope it returns. There is some really great narration.

I was actually referring to the comment calling it a bad adaptation, which is a very unpopular opinion. Good to know that you actually meant that you liked the anime but still prefer the manga (which I can understand).

Yup, completely agree that the narration should return for this one cause alot of the events are better off being narrated by an outside force rather than having the character’s explain it to us (which is what they did for season 1 where the narration was done by the characters themselves)

Yup, agreed. I want to see so many lines animated. I hope they don't remove the narration.
