Of the ones that Crunchyroll recently added I found the first one kind of boring but it’s alright, and the second one was a bit more entertaining and a little ecchi and there are some slight references in the main story that I had never even noticed beforehand.

Basically, you don’t have have to but they’re alright.

I never watched one . It's your choice, if you are really invested in anime. Then do checkout OVAs.
Otherwise they aren't gonna do much to the main storyline.

They’re strictly for entertainment and have nothing to do with the plotine, so yes you do not have to watch it. I personally don’t think it’s that great anyways so I wouldn’t recommend it.
