| Not an Eva fan but apparently "it has a deep meaning that you will only understand by rewatching it." Also this: "It has realistic characters." The thing is this makes no sense to me. Characters can be realistic but if you hate them your gonna dislike the anime. Also, the first one is the same thing as saying "continue watching a series you don't enjoy for it to get to the "good" stuff." but this makes even less sense since rewatching a series you don't enjoy is just plain stupid. Evangelion was so unmemorable that I don't even have an answer if you should drop it or not. Since I don't remember if it got better, and I watched Eva late last year. My advice to you would be, if you find it boring, don't waste your time on it. Ignore the opinions of others. Just because it is claimed to be great doesn't mean you will like it. Although if you do decide to stick around make sure to check out End Of Evangelion. Since thats better than the original anime. |

| Are you depressed? Eva really strikes a chord for depressed people. They find the story highly relatable. I, however, am not depressed and cannot say I’m a Eva fan but as an anime fan it is our duty to watch Eva at least once. It was a turning point for anime and left its mark on history. Honestly you can just watch the recap movies and End of Evangelion and I’d say that counts. It’s a convoluted show that takes some serious dissection to understand. I must say it pops off after the recap episode which is 14. If you don’t like Eva suffer through it anyways by at least taking the shortcuts of watching episode 14 onward or recap films I mentioned earlier. Then try the Rebuild films which nondepressed people enjoy far more. |

| The later episodes get really weird and go into more of the thought processes and psychology of the characters. The early episodes were kinda wack tho. Stick it out for a few more episodes and see if you think it gets better as that’s around the point where most people say it gets good, but if it still doesn’t do it for ya, drop it. Don’t feel bad about it if it isn’t in your taste |

| I’m an eva superfan who has seen the show all the way through over 20 times. The show is really dense with little details- especially shot compositions and directorial decisions. If analysis (and over analysis lol) aren’t your thing then maybe the show isn’t for you. It all really depends on what you’re looking for. If you want the more serious psychological part of eva that a lot of people talk about, then watch until at least episode 16. Where eva truly shines is in some of the later episodes and in the end of evangelion movie. But if you’re honestly bored with it, don’t feel bad about dropping it. It really isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. |

| I really love NGE but I think that it's very hit or miss. However, if it hits, it really hits. I got a lot out of it personally, but two friends that watched it thought it was just fine. I will say that if you're eight episodes in and are considering dropping it, then perhaps you should. With stuff like this if you're getting the gut instinct to do that then it's probably the right choice lol. :) |
