I've been rewatching this anime recently and will probably do so again in the future as I’ve enjoyed it very much. The final episode left some open questions though.
Considering there hasn't been any discussion on this board since 2012, here's a condensed version of my thoughts on it (would be happy to discuss this more in depth)

A) It's basically Mint seeing the results of her work to make people happy. A birthday party for her is secretly being prepared. Everything is fine and understandable so far.

B) Here is where it turns odd: Her parents, aunt and mentor mage Tratty show up during this party. Flowers from the magical kingdom seemingly teleport in. She also seems to use magic to float for a short time before saying thanks to her closest friends.
Why do I find this strange: Mint always made sure to not blow her cover, hide the fact she can use magic. Her parents and aunt made it clear that magic and the magical kingdom is nothing earth people must know about. So why have such a revealing scene, in the last 3 minutes of the episode? Nobody of all the people standing there reacts to it too.

C) The whole episode is people saying "Mint, we love you, make sure to visit us again". She agrees to all that, even wants to make a snack for the baseball team. Yet the final scenes, just after what I described in B), shows her alone with her pet in the magical kingdom, wearing her princess gow from episode 1. While she clearly looks happy and just reassured her friendship with everyone a minute ago... why end a show about happiness and friendship with the protagonist alone?

D) This epsiode’s title -いつかきっとどこかで- is part of a phrase used in goodbye situations such as "We'll certainly meet again, sometime, someplace". Clearly an indicator of a goodbye theme.
On the other hand we’ve seen basically any inhabitant of the magical kingdom can come to earth at any time (keeping their identity a secret of course). Why play up a farewell theme then? Surely Mint could find a lot of time to visit her friends often?

So is the viewer supposed to be happy for Mint she finished her quest? Sad to see her parting? Is the ending even supposed to show her parting ways or was it just poorly produced? Were the last few minutes just made for the viewer? I honestly don’t know what to think about this.

This sadly was a general problem with this show: A great buildup, with a too abrupt ending in many episodes. I assume this was one of the more hastily put together episodes, also indicated by the two character songs (Nut's and Tact's) that just seem to have been randomly thrown in.
