Hey everyone, thanks for being part of this club. Here we can discuss some of the books that we enjoy in real life! I'll start us off.
First, I'm a big fantasy lover. Brandon Sanderson is my favorite author, with my favorite series of his being the Stormlight Archive and favorite individual work The Emperor's Soul. I love the technical detail of his magic systems, which lets great plot twists happen without feeling contrived. The Stormlight Archive is an epic in every sense of the word, as well as being a masterwork of world building. I'm very exciting for the upcoming release of the fourth book, Rhythm of War. The Emperor's Soul is just a short work, technically a novella, but it is still a great read. I'd describe it as literary fantasy, so if that piques your interest definitely give it a shot (at the very least, you'll only have sacrificed a few hours if you dislike it.)
Watching anime has inspired me to read some Japanese literature as well (translated, as I only speak/read English.) No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai is definitely worth reading, as is Kokoro by Natsume Soseki. If you want something more modern, give Haruki Murakami a shot, but be prepared for some surreal storytelling.
That's enough about my favorite books for now. Feel free to chime in about what you like!
P.S. You should all get the notification about this topic since it is the club's first, but I won't do that in the future unless most of you mention you'd like the notifications in your responses. |
