Hey guys, I'm new to anime. I've seen Fullmetal Alchemist, and I liked it. My friends tell me that Psycho-Pass is pretty good, and I found this listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Psycho-Pass-Seasons-1-2-Complete-Series-English-Dub/184365591846 . Do you guys think that Psycho-Pass, as a series, is worth it to watch. Thank you.

Probably just a personal preference, but I tend to avoid dubs. It just sounds out of place. But anyway...

It wouldn't be a shocker if I told you I'm a huge fan of Psycho-Pass. The first season stands out (S2 was meh, and S3 was all right, but nothing groundbreaking). It has just the right blend of psychological, suspense, and decent bits of action, as long you're okay with some violence/ gore (some scenes can be quite graphic).

Honestly, one of the biggest things that stood out to me was how well the character development progressed. Usually you get amazing OST but character development or plot is missing, but I'd say it's all there. The soundtrack ain't bad, either; I still listen to it from time to time, and it's been a while since I've last watched the show.

I will say though, the 2nd season definitely has a significant drop in quality, but it's still watchable (essentially, there's new characters while other takes a backseat - not the first time you see this in a show, but just be ready for that). The most recent season (S3) recovered some of S1's charm but the crew, once again, is mostly new.

Personally I believe a dystopian show is good whenever it actually makes you step back and question the way our society is run, which is what Psycho-Pass did for me. The creation of a believable world was flawlessly executed and the character development was perfect. If anyone had any problems with this show they would probably say its boring which is understandable; it does take its time for its interesting segments. If you don't like shows whose main theme revolves around the inner workings of what makes a society function then this show probably isn't for you

If anything, that could be our future. But who knows, that's just my speculating haha.

If you want the short answer, yes, Psycho-Pass is "worth it." I watched the subbed version, and I have no idea how good the dub is (although, it's probably bad like most dubs), but whatever.

But it's also worth mentioning that Psycho-Pass takes a ton from Death Note. Tone, plot, some characters, even the way the drama is and how crimes seem to the investigators... it's all so incredibly similar to Death Note. My recommendation would be that if you want to watch Psycho-Pass, watch Death Note first. Both anime are good (and worth watching), but Death Note is better, and it's safe to say influenced many of Psycho-Pass' elements. One more thing: When it comes to Psycho-Pass, I only watched the first season, and I don't plan to watch the second or third. I've heard that the sequels (especially the second season) are unnecessary and very bad.

Also, if you're buying Psycho-Pass on disk because you want to, cool. I just want to make it known that there is a legal and free stream of Psycho-Pass (seasons 1 and 2) online, in both sub and dub. That would be on the legal Australian website AnimeLab. Here's the link. https://www.animelab.com/shows/psychopass. However, the website only works if you're from Australia. You can fix this by using a VPN and setting your location to Australia. Another thing which might make you want to stream instead of buy is that you can fast-forward through the ads on this website. Just a head-up.

Probably only the first season tbh, and the movie (for the characters). Not gonna vouch for S2 (it's unwatchable but a far, far cry from S1).

I personally enjoyed watching it, even though I much preferred the first season over the second one.

S2 was trash compared to S1. I'd say that S2 would be fine as a standalone, but that's not how it works.
