Why did Takenaka join the protectors of the Islamic front when it was an Islamist organisation?

Takenaka was a former JRA member , ye ? so why join a group that was allied with abu sayaf ? Now Ibraha is Lebanese , right ? How do we know he wasn't trained by Syria and wasn't a nasserist or a Syrian ba'ath guerilla or PFLP member ? They could have met through a Syrian training camp. my question is why does the group work with abu sayaf ? The Moro Liberation Army was all but vanquished by 1990 so maybe they kept contacts with them in the late 80s. Hell they may have kept ties with Jemaah Islamiyah and the Free Aceh Movement well into bombing the African US embassy.
