While the series is in total 52 episodes, only 24 are logged on mal. I only noticed this after rechecking this entry one day since mal did list 52 eps at one point. After doing some digging I found the reason it was switched to 24 eps:

This series is a co-production between the Japanese Nippon Animation and the German Apollo Animation, each contributing 26 eps, listed separately here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fushigi_no_Kuni_no_Alice

As mal only cares for the Japanese production, only the 26 episodes produced by Nippon Animation are relevant to this site which can be confirmed on their official website here:
http://www.nippon-animation.co.jp/work/1438/

Now the reason only 24 out of the 26 episodes is listed is that out of the 26 episodes that Nippon Ani produced, only 24 aired during the original broadcast run, seen here:
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=476&page=25

*The usual mal standard is to have the extra episodes listed separately, but as of today's date, this is not possible. I'm sure they will be listed eventually though~

i wonder if this will happen to lot of old shows as well, since many are co-produced with Europe and few other countries. guess back then most joint produciton where handled the same due to the lack of option in old times ... but i guess they only change if they strictly seperate episode production and if it's documented ...

Dunno, but this is a bit over the top for my taste ... co-production shows are after all co produced so of course it's not only a Japanese show, it Seems weird to treat co-production differently just because they split the work differently (episode split vs type of animation split/half per episode split ect.). they still had to cooridnate together and make sure the episodes and quality is on some level, same character design ect. so there is still japanese work in it imo.
