Im saying anime like Black clover. Asta wants to be the wizard king but it's hard for him cause he doesn't have magic

All I want is that and preferably male MC

Haikyuu!: MC wants to be good at volleyball, but is really short

I think 3-gatsu no lion is like that but he is like weak because of his mental state? It is hard to explain it
But very recommended, it is beautiful

Barakamon also kinda fit in that criteria.

Diamond no Ace - first years learn how weak they are in comparison to their senpais, also Eijun has problem from the begining so he has harder start than anyone else in Seido.
Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudoubu - Minato has target panic and he has a lot of problems to overcome it
Yowamushi Pedal - Onoda is just an otaku who wants to join anime club but suddenly one day he meets Imaizumi and he learns a bit about cycling then... it's must see.

Basically you should try a lot of sports anime most of them have characters with tragic backstory or they are poor and need to work and train hard in same time.

Not sure if the show fits the MC wanting to be the best at something but he does have a goal with him being held back due to his surroundings, except his comrades.
