The pururin song resonated in my mind the first time I watched this anime, couldn't help but singing it too.
This anime is scary sometimes.

Yes it did. I've lived the neet life and it's very hard to escape. This anime really got everything right with being a neet. Terrific series!

Its kind of dumb to say, but i believe in destiny and god just because of this anime
Had never heard of it before, but when i was at the second year of highschool (2014), i got bullied to a point where i decided to just not go to the school. I couldn't tell anyone how anxious i was, just leaving my room was painful enough to leave me shaking

so i made my family think i was still going, but in fact i was isolated in my room. and i stayed like that for months till i decided to watch this anime out of nowhere. I didnt know what was it about, it just came to my head the name, randomly.

The thing is, i watched, and as i was watching, it gave me strenght to get up and go back to school; strenght to return to my life from where it stopped.

so yeah, it really resonated to me in deep levels, i cried every episode. 10/10 overall.

I thoroughly enjoyed this show.Satou resonated with me very much. The way his room is depicted at the start of the anime, his excessive smoking and masturbation and his negative mindset made me feel as if I was watching myself. The use of the objects in his room to show him talking to himself was very creative and the fact that they always confirmed his ideas showed that he was in a thought loop, and this was what drew me towards Satou. As a college student who spends most of time playing video games, watching anime and watching porn,Satou provided comfort to me just by existing. What I liked most about the anime was that instead of his life continuosly improving,he would often fall back into hopelessness and despair.I believe every person in a situation similar to his (myself included) has tried to improve but end up giving up.Yamazaki and misaka helped Satou come out of the bubble he had put himself in and prevented him from going back on multiple occasions. The sexual fantasies in his mind were very close to home for me and I believe the reason he did so was that excessive porn usage had filled his sub conscious mind with such material. The romance aspect of the anime was not exactly to my liking but Misaka helped Satou the way a friend does, and she wasn't in the story just as a romantic interest. She was in some ways much stronger than Satou,as even though she was in despair, she looked for a solution (which was to find someone more pathetic than her and become a pillar of strength for them). In the end,her decision to help Satou payed off as she was able to overcome her sense of worthlessness at least to some extent.I believe Yamazaki was the most important reason for Satou's improvement. He helped Satou find joy in small things (by taking him to Akihabara),helped him find a reason to come out of his lazy lifestyle (building an ero game) and helped keep his mind occupied so that his sexual fantasies and negative thoughts did not come to the forefront.I was heartbroken when Yamazaki had to move back to his family's ranch and would have loved if he had been allowed to follow his dream, but my guess is that the author wanted to show reality and not a fairy tale.I could not invest emotionally with Satou's senior as much as I would have liked to and I think the reason was that I was already occupied by the 3 main characters. That being said,Toro Toro San moved me deeply and I could relate to his thought process very much.Another aspect of the anime I loved was that Satou had no enemy. No character was portrayed as evil and everyone tried their best under the circumstances. The scene in which Satou starts thinking of himself as the only person in the universe, and the way the objects in his surroundings helped him believe that he was indestructible moved me deeply as I believe the author was trying to say that positive thought loops exist and even though Satou wasn't able to continue existing in such a state it was a very emotional scene for me.i think this anime has hit closer to home than any I have watched ever since I started watching avidly in 2017 and the final message I received was to keep hanging in there and not give up.This anime is one of the best I've watched but I believe I that is due to my experiences in life.Even though the animation and art is bad at times the story is wonderful and I believe that makes up for the production problems.

Everyone who thinks Misaki is an angel or ideal waifu or whatever obviously either didn't pay attention or is just a very, very bad judge of characters. That girl is even more of a wreck than Satou and borderline psychotic. If you're so shallow that you can't see beyond a cute outer appearance and see what kind of person she really is and why she's doing what she's doing and what her role is in the show, then I don't know what to say. Rewatch the show.

You don't seem to have much experience with mental problems like that if you can't relate to that. Going back to square one is something I've done dozens of times with my depression and anxiety. This never ending cycle of trying to do something, to get over it, then failing and going back to square 1 is a big part of what made Welcome to the NHK so relatable and realistic to me. There's not much progress because in reality there is no beautifully constructed character development culminating in a tearful scene and the resolution of all former problems. It would be nice but it's not a realistic conclusion. No, people don't change that easily, but they can adapt to their situation and at least learn to live with themselves and start building their own, little happiness from there. Instead of trying to solve all your problems by changing into another person who doesn't have those problems, you need to accept your current self. To me, that was one of the core themes of Welcome to the NHK.

no one is trying to argue about him being some kind of ideal waifu the show makes pretty clear she has a hidden motivation to help satou and that her actions are quite selfish
my problem is with the character concept itself a pretty girl that wants nothing but to help you to solve your social issues is a ridiculous wish fullfillment idea by itself in a show that is trying its hard to portray relatable situations putting this kind of unbelievable ideas is completely off
and i find the case of character regression a very realistic issue for this kind of situation i myself never leave my home outside of going to university i know that this kind of issue revolves in a endless cycle of highs and lows where there is seamingly no progress but i still find that aspect poorly done in nhk
compared this with one of my favorite portrayals of a depressive teenager in the medium rei from 3-gatsu no lion his constant regression more than simply halting the progress in the series always served to show a different side of the protagonist they where motivated by different circusntances and the protagonist reacted differently every time
i find none of that in satou
you seem to contradict yourself in this very comment, you criticize the concept of a pretty girl

you seem to contradict yourself in this comment. You say that a concept of a pretty girl wanting nothing but to help the protagonist solve his mental issues is detrimental but prior to that you say that she has an ulterior motive.
Secondly, people tend to be emphatetic to other people's struggles and those type of people that would fullfill her role would be called therapist.
Thirdly, march comes in like a lion does this as well cause Kawamoto family has this role for REI especially Akira.
Fourthly, all fiction is some form is trying hard to portray relatable situations but it's never the sole purpose of fiction cause fiction can never be realistic to the point where it captures all the nuances of life. Fiction is to serve as an expression for an idea.
Trying to judge the work based on what you think it's trying to do is problematic as you are effectively judging for what you think it is rather than what it is.
