INTRODUCTION
The MSV game is an anime fantasy league styled game hosted by the MSP club where we use stats gathered by the club to award points to anime a player selects on their team. Players choose a team comprising of 4 active and 2 bench anime and duke it out for supremacy, the team with the highest score wins at the end of the season. Here we attempt to write a short guide to give players a platform to better understand and approach the game.

SCORING SYSTEM
The points system in the game is quite straight forward, you earn points by any kind of deviation in MAL score a show on your active team gets in the week, this means that it doesn’t matter if the score of an anime goes up or it goes down, you will still earn a point in whatever way the numbers swing. This however is a more common thing for shows who’s MAL score is going down, as such there are also bonus points that are attainable only by shows whose score are going up, for those who tread the braver path.

TEAM SELECTION
Unlike other fantasy styled games there is no immediate apparent way to tell which shows will perform best and which won’t, the only sure fire way is by actually doing a little research on the show, if it looks like it could be really good or really bad then you’ll want it on your team. There are basically 3 ways to go about this:
a) All positive: Here you try to choose shows whose score will be most likely going up as the season progresses, the main objective here is trying to attain the bonus points which only positive shows can get, there will be more shows going down than up during a season so it will be a tricky strategy to get right but one that pays off if you can pull it off.
b) All negative: Here you will attempt to go for only shows whose score will be dropping all season long, these type of shows are usually aplenty but the only trick is you can’t tell by how much it’ll fall, this abandons the notion of bonus points so all you’ll have is the hope that the shows you picked have a stinker of a season.
c) Hybrid: The safer option, you will attempt to pick both shows you feel will be going up as well as going down, you will be aiming to score bonus points with your positive shows as well as hope your negative shows perform badly. Hitting this balance is not easy, it’s easy to be successful on one side and fail in the next, as such you’ll do well to stack your bench with shows that will allow you to switch to an all negative/positive strategy if it fails.

SUBS
Subs will be very important, there is no guarantee that a show that attains a good score the previous week will do so in the subsequent, it all depends on the how good (or bad) the episode in question was. You’ll be allowed a sub every other week, and while it’s not necessary to be watching a show on your team, it is recommended, failure to utilize subs will almost surely result in failure.

1/5TH RULE
MAL implements something it calls the 1/5th rule whenever a show ends, this rule removes from the MAL score calculation any rating for a user who has not watched 1/5th of a show, what this causes is usually a sizeable score deviation, you’ll do well to have this 'ace in the whole' on your bench toward the end of the game.

CONCLUSION
So there you have it, a short introductory guide on how to go about the game, doesn’t really reveal the whole game but hopefully enough to allow new comers who are confused to jump in. MSV game will be back in Winter 2017 season, please enjoy.
