what series would you show to a parent to get them into anime?

What else? Clannad, of course! lol And just about any slice of life anime out there. Parents dig that.

This is of course referring to those homely, old-school parents who want their children to be doctors and lawyers when they grow up. For the more profound crowd, I believe Miyazaki films are great for them. Otheriwse, Shinkai Makoto films. Both of their works are family-friendly, yet keeping realism in the story.

The chance of my parents ever getting into anime is less than 1%. They think it's childish Chinese cartoons.

Also, I don't think I want to get them into anime in the first place. I mean, why I would want that. But if I ever did, then I'd show them a Hayao Miyazaki/Ghibli film.
