Shonen-esque fight/competition anime with characters doing awesome things

It's been a while since I've found an anime that I loved and wanted to watch the whole series of. For me, these tend to be anime's where the main cast are fighters or competitor's of some sort, and we see them do cool stuff throughout the series, with occasional moments of sheer epicness. I don't like series that are very dark. Friendship scenes are a plus. Some examplesof anime I like:

Rune Soldier Louie (Mahou Senshi Louie)
Shokugeki No Souma
Toriko
Gundam Build Fighters
Gundam Build Fighters Try
Free!

They tend to be shounen, but aren't necessarily of the shounen genre, for example the last three aren't. Suggestions please!

Ao No Exorcist: I watched some of this, and while it had some of the things I like, I didn't like it overall. For one thing it was a bit too dark for me and I've read that it only gets darker. For another, the plot seemed driven mostly by characters picking up and dropping the idiot/heroism/melodrama/antagonist balls. Like, a character would be trying to kill the protagonist in one scene and claiming to be his ally in the next, and vice versa.
Angel Beats: I've seen some of it. WAY too dark for me. Like I said, I don't like stuff that's very dark.
FMA/Brotherhood: Watched a bit and nothing really grabbed me. I'll try watching some more.
Ruroni Kenshin: Looks like something I might like. I'll try it.
Seirei no Moribito: Hmm, maybe. Might be a bit dark for me depending on how the government, the supernatural aspect, and the characters function, but I'll give it a shot.
Shounen Onmyouji: Hmm. Comedy, friendship, fighting awesomeness. Definitely looks like something I'll like. I'll watch this soon.
Wolf's Rain: Probably too dark for me, but I'll try watching an episode.
