I'm not sure, but would opening up the slates to ALL humanity be such a bad thing?

Would chaos reign?

If chaos reigned would it be temporary, the chaos whilst humanity got to grips with its new found power and enlightenment? - Like, can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs sort of thing.

btw, no spoilers past current episodes thnx

I'm with you, it wouldn't necessarily be the worst thing if the slates opened up. There would certainly be unrest and some discourse afterward, but if the kings do their jobs, it shouldn't be that difficult to bring things back under control.

The kings seem to be imagining a kind of worst case scenario in their heads, and they want to avoid that, which in itself is understandable, but it won't necessarily happen that way, especially if - as I said - they do their jobs.

Great point, one would think that ultimately this was indeed their job; to safely open up the slates to all, and that to just be the guardians and sole recipients of the slates potential seems like the lazy option maybe.

This makes me feel like I'm edging on the side of 'the bad guys' a feeling I've had a few times in recent animes (– I was totally against the vaccination plan in Charlotte for example.) But I do I like this show a lot, and love the passion of the reds “no blood, no bone, no ash....” even if right now their position seems a bit outdated, like, I would have thought it was more in keeping with the times to have a show were the opening up of forbidden power and knowledge (e.g. the Vatican Library) was the aim of the good guys, in any case, it would be a great end to the season if the greens were successful, and the kings have to deal with the initial chaos this brings.

Thinking about it some more, I guess the kings could make the argument that even one life lost due to the premature opening of the slates would one be too many.

It's an interesting one for sure...

Only the government/police should have that kind of power. It would be like having every random citizen, even kids, have guns and bombs.

^ That, in an ideal uncorrupted world, would probably be for the best, but, to use a well worn phrase, "Who then watches the watchers?"

Just sad coz' he have to die. I think its the fate of the antagonist, seeing things differently and fight for it and then die for it. So sad.

It probably has something to do with Japanese ideal vs American ideal. This seasons reminds me a lot about the debates concerning gun control.
