Do you have to be familiar with the original Gatchaman to watch this series?

Hi guys! Man am I late to the show. I've always been aware of it's presence but only recently did I discover that it's directed by Nakamura Kenji. So, with that, I apologize if this is a repetitive question, but how familiar would I need to be with the Gatchaman franchise to enjoy Crowds?
