Action anime where mc fights/ kills former friend

I'm looking for a series where the friend turns evil and the mc has an epic fight with him., preferably ending in death. One of the many reasons I hate Naruto is because Sasuke gets treated as a redeemable hero when he's not. Please give me a series that succeeds where Naruto fails.

Gundam Seed - former best friends end up on opposing sides of a war. So its not a turned evil thing but should fit.
