| seeing as Rowen looked lost in her thoughts, she turned to her father, "Papa, I'm scared" she whispered to him, so only he could hear her, why was she scared? She didnt know, but she could just feel this irrational fear knotting in her gut |
| Emperor Althalos Benedict His face twists with concern, he puts a hand on her back and draws her close, hugging her. What about? He asks soothingly. |
| "I dont know.." she whispered, holding back tears that wanted to over flow, "I dont know, I just am" she repeated, hiding her face in the crook of his neck |
| Emperor Althalos Benedict He rubs her back, It's alright, you're safe here, he says to her. |
| When she felt her father rubbing her back she broke down, sobs racked her small body, "I was pushed from a tree.. I just k-kept falling, and falling down.. never ending.." she described her dream to her father, "Then, i-it was just al pitch black, I could see n-nothing" she mumbled into her fathers shoulder, not caring now she was crying |
| Emperor Althalos Benedict He held her tight against him, trying to calm her down, [b]hush... hush... |
| [b]Rowen[/b] Rowen looked down at her arm. It did of course did still hurt, but the last thing she wanted was Lirael worrying about her. [b]"This little thing? Isn't anything more then a few scratches. I was worried about you though, you slipped off without even getting an escort or letting me know where you went." |
| She separated herself from her father, rubning her eyes with the back of her left hand, "I don't know why I slipped off though.." She murmured visible trying to think of he reason. She reached out for her fathers hand, and just hd it in her own, feeling safe in her own way. Her eyes lingering on Rowen and then she saw a third person, a woman, "who's that..?" She asked talking about Aurelia. She had never seen her before in the palace |
| [b]Rowen[/b] Rowen was puzzled. Was Lirael joking around or something? [b]"That is the Emperors hand, Aurelia. Don't you remember her? She's been around the palace for ages, ever since I was a little girl, and you were littler. Are you joking around or something? It's not like you can very well forget a woman who's been like a sister to both of us princess." |
| "What happened to the other hand? What happened to my mother? I thought she was my fathers hand" her face showed she was genuine. She really did not remember this woman at all, it was as if her brain had forcefully rewritten her memory. "It was Willas and you who were always here.. And my mother was the hand, don't gest like that Rowen" Lirael spoke sounded convinced, wondering if maybe Rowen had hit her head harder than what she cared to admit, "have you had the physician look at your head? Maybe during the fight since you weren't wearing a helmet...." She carried off |
| Emperor Althalos Benedict He stared at his daughter, thoroughly concerned now. [b]Lirael, the hand has always been Aurelia, and you only met Willas a few days ago... |
| Her head flinched back to her father, her eyes wide open now in shock, bewilderment and clear confusion, "No, that can not be correct, mother was the hand, and Willas would stay here for months on end being courted..." she repeated firm in her conviction |
| Aurellia's eyes opened slightly upon hearing the commotion, image still fresh in her mind but couldnt come to words "Whats with all the noise?" She asks turning her head to see everyone. |
| Lirael looked at the woman with curiosity now she could see her clearly. Clear concentration could be seen on her face. No bells rang. Nothing. "Father, I have not seen this person in my life. If I had I would surely recognise the lady" she shook her head from side to side. Why did they look at her as if she was crazy? It was them that had several screws loose |
| Despite what she was hearing, Aurellia smiled and spoke softly and in slight pain "Hey Lirael...you wanna cut the act?....stuff like that would end up making someone hurt." Aurellia simply believed she was joking and mucking around. |
| "I dont understand.." she shook her head in distress, why did nobody believe her? She wasnt lying, she wouldnt lie about something like this. She. didnt. know. this. woman. Why was she acting so familiar with her? |
| Emperor Althalos Benedict Althalos studied her with increasing worry, Do you remember how you cut yourself? He asks, gesturing to her elbow. |
| She looked at her father now, closing her eyes trying to remember, "yes, we were in the arena celebrating Willas' and my betrothal, and then the fight got too gruesome for my taste.. So I thought I would retire to my chambers... So I rode back to the castle on Coimbra.. I gave the page my horse.. and then I must have tripped.. But I remember someone being in the stable.. I just never saw his face.." she spoke, a frown clearly etched on her forehead. It wasnt unusual for her to slip away during the festivities, just the fact that she'd tripped.. |
| [b]Rowen[/b] Rowen shook her head. "Lirael I never hit my head in the fight, I only suffered cuts and a broken wrist. And Prince Willas has most definitely just met you. Tell me though, what do remember about today. Leave nothing out, every detail is important, nothing is too small to miss." She waited for a reply, and hoped this wasn't what she feared. |
| "You all think Ive lost my marbles" she choked out now, but she started to say everything that happened that day. "Father found Willas and I asleep on the bed, not realizing We were both so exhausted that we fell asleep. We then went to the throne room, where we made our betrothal Oficial, and I agreed happily to the King. After we went to the arena, there I sat and watched until a pole was chucked at our booth, you stopped it, and then I slipped away since it had all got too gruesome. So I went to the stables on Coimbra, gave my horse to the page and as I was walking, I must have slipped on my dress" she took a deep breath after talking so much, "that's all I remember |
| Emperor Althalos Benedict He didn't know what to do, [b]Prince Willas found you and brought you back to the castle, do you remember that? |
| Lirael was silent for several minutes, thinking, until she shook her head slowly, clutching her elbow, "Pain" was all she said, wondering if they understood |
| Emperor Althalos Benedict Althalos glanced back at Aurelia, wondering how she would take it. He didn't know how to deal with this problem, he had always felt in control, but now he didn't. He just sat there, speechless for the first time in his life. |
| Aurelia was simply looking in Lirael's direction, pure look of shock on her face, was it some sort of cruel joke? or did she really not remember the person that was like a sister to her?. |
| [b]Rowen[/b] Rowen stumbled to her feet. Just another thing she could add on to her major screw up of the day. She had let Lirael slip away unnoticed, and not only had she suffered a near fatal wound, but she had also lost her memories of Aurelia. She took a few steps back, then turned around and ran from the room, slamming the door shut behind her. She couldn't bear to look at either of them, knowing she was at least partly responsible. |
| Lirael looked at Rowen flee, and flinched when she slammed the door. She opened her mouth as if to speak, but instead of speaking she bent over herself gasping in silent pain. Something was thundering inside her head, fighting to get out, she was back at the stable now, all solid materials contorting, as if it were photos of different colours being passed changed, flipped through, one after the next. Until then it stopped. There was a woman now, on the horse, she was before a girl now, a girl with black short her and a taller woman. One was on a horseback, the other was standing in front, her eyes scrunched shut. Words seemed to be interchanged. She couldnt hear them, but the next thing she knew, the horse reared on his hind legs, cantering forward at full speed, knocking the girl onto the floor with the impact. The scene in the stable started to spin, spin around the observer herself, as quickly as it happened she was gasping and bent over herself in pain in the present, her hand leaving red finger marks on her elbow, since she had been gripping it so hard |
| Emperor Althalos Benedict He reached out hesitantly to his daughter, Lirael? Lirael are you okay? Prince Willas Elendere Willas had been on his way back down the hallway when he had seen Rowen run out, he opened the door and looked inside. |
| Lirael flinched away from her fathers touch now, looking at him scared, if this woman was the hand, the hand had run rammed into her on her horse, Rowen had just left in a frenzy, her father had reassured her that the woman who had nearly ran her over with the horse was the hand, but wasn't the hand supposed to be with the royale family? Then why would she try to run her over? It just didn't make sense. Was she being played? "She pushed me.. It was this woman, the man I thought I saw in the stable was this woman, she mounted her horse and didn't stop.. I was in front of her..." She was shivering now in fear, did they want her dead? Her own father wanted her dead? "I never thought you'd try to get rid of me in such a way" she didn't look up at her father nor the woman. Betrayal, confusion, hurt, pain, it was all oozing from her trembling voice |
| "What?? I did that??? I hurt you??? Lirael i would never do that! your like my damn sister! i wouldnt ever think of doing such a thing! how can you think of me like that?!?!" |
| "I dont know you" she shook her head, retreating as far away as she could on her bed, so her back was cornered against the wall, "I dont remember you" she repeated anew, "But I remember at the stables.It was you" she whispered hiding her head in her knees afraid |
| Emperor Althalos Benedict Althalos looked at Lirael then at Aurelia, he trusted his daughter but right now she was delirious so he didn't know whether to believe her memory. She had forgotten about Aurelia after all. He turns to Aurelia, Did you? He asks, doubtful. Prince Willas Elendere Willas comes in at Lirael panicking, he kneels down next to her, ignoring the Emperor and the hand, he doesn't say anything as he was thinking of what next to say. |
| "Willas.." She whispered, "help me" she pleaded in a quiet voice, so quiet it was barely more than a hollow whisper |
| Prince Willas Elendere He put a hand on her shoulder, What's wrong? You're safe here. he says, slightly confused but trying to keep his voice soothing. |
| "I'm not" she shook her head, "please, you have to believe me" she pleaded looking straight up at him, "I, I don't know her" she shook her head vehemently referrinf to Aurelia |
| A tear, then another, then another dropped upon hearing what she was saying, it was like being stabbed right in the heart. "I would never.....do that....i know i wouldnt...you...your like my sister..." Staring into the nothingness with her mouth open in shock and tear falling constantly. |
| Emperor Althalos Benedict Althalos didn't know what to do or say, he sort of just stood in shock at what he was hearing. Prince Willas Elendere It was clear that disagreeing with her was not the best course of action, he glances back at Aurelia with a sorrowful look, before looking at Lirael. Maybe you should rest before anything, you don't want to over stress yourself, he says, trying to find a way around agreeing or disagreeing with her. |
| "I don't need rest...." she murmured, yet her eyes were already starting to close, probably the pain killer that the doctor had given her while placing the ointment on the burnt mark.. Everything was starting to go groggy and she meant on Willas now, "I'm even being.. Drugged.. Now.." She whispered hoarsely trying to keep ahold of her conscience which was sliping away, she didn't want to go back to the darkness |
| Prince Willas Elendere He rubbed her back and held her, helping her to lose consciousness. He begins to slowly hum a lullaby that his mother had once taught him when he was a young boy, he thought he had forgotten it by now. |
| Sitting there in her medical bed she was terrified at what she was witnessing, to the point where she couldnt tell if it was a nightmare, cruel joke or the harsh truth but she knew she would never of hurt Lirael in anyway. "Althalos...i wouldnt...you know i would never do that...shes like my own blood...i wouldnt dare" |
| Emperor Althalos Benedict Seeing her expression and hearing her tone of voice, he knew there was no way she did it. He nods in a simple, "I believe you", so Lirael wouldn't see. |
| Finally Lirael's eyes closed, the drugs finally overtaking her body with one final shudder. Her face showed a scared expression in sleep, no longer looking peaceful as the whisky entrails took her mind prisoner anew |
| Aurelia closed up in a fetal position, as tears fell but she didnt say a word, it was like everything they went through and experienced was now a lie. |
| Prince Willas Elendere He picks Lirael up and gently lays her onto the bed, he pulls a chair up and sits on it next to her. |
| Emperor Althalos Benedict He leaves the room, his daughter was now sleeping. He goes to find his wife, he needed to ask her something. |
