When hovering over links

When i hover over a link on my list
the background is purple. But i want the links to be yellow too so i can hover to the right of my list (links) so the link-color is yellow and background color is purple

is that possible to do? O:

I guess something like

tr:hover a {
        color: yellow;
        text-decoration: underline;
}

should do
